whenever I create a world that has instability (eg when i want a mining age with dense ores) I always have the blindness effect on me, regardless of wether i go under ground or not, and it lasts for ever. nothing that mentions being blind is added to the descriptive book, so is it a bug, or am I just stunningly unluky? I have made several (between 5-10) worlds in creative, and I have been blind in all of them.

You may just be putting too many things that add instability without anything to balance them into the book add some of the bad effects to the books and it will mitigate the chances of instability.

The blindness effect is one I have found that does effect you underground.

Effects triggered by exposure to the sky (most of them) can be solved by going underground.

My last dense ores world I got random explosions and no blindness so it worked out well for me.

What would you say is the best (safest) negative effect to apply to my dense ores age, and how many of them should I add? assuming that i use about 5 dense ores symbols.

Five dense ores is waaaaay too many the only way to cancel that out would be adding meteors which you do not want to do, your best bet is 1 (2 if you are feeling brave) dense ore symbols with a charged modifier or two (makes lightning strike the surface frequently which would be fine if you are underground).

That seems to fix the blindness. I used 3 dense ores, and 4 charged. the world had nausia and weakness on the surface, but that stopped underground, and I need to turn the sound down with the lightning, but it seems to be free of any world destroying instability. Thanks!

If you make a cave world, you can usually add several meteor or charged symobls without worrying too much about anything.

While you can do that you would probably (not really tested it or anything) get much less in the way of actual ores as it is harder to mine in the cave worlds than standard worlds also the cave area does take up quite a bit of space that would othewise be ores.

Not nearly as much as you would think. The bottom 15 layers or so where everything valuable lies is made up of stone.

1. Get Vajra
2. Create Flat, Meteor, Charged, Scorched Surface Mystcraft age with as many Dense ores as you want (I usually go with 20 or so)
3. Dig down to your desired depth and run in a straight line holding down left click (Vajra digs so fast that all the decay won't be able to catch up to you and even if it does Vajra one shots it :) )
4. ????????
5. Profit.

This works best if you have a sorting system setup with an Ender Chest so you can just dump you inventory into a pouch. Your inventory will fill up with various ores and dusts VERY fast. Some people would say that this makes the game too easy so use at your own risk. I personally don't think it makes it too easy because I still run out of copper all the time and have to go mining regularly for that and also I barely get any uranium so I've only got 3 Hybrid solar panels so far even thought I've gotten at least 3000+ diamonds. This method does make Iridium rather easy to get tho, after a whole run using up my entire Gravichest I usually have 20+ Iridium. Also if you added the Mass Fabricator recipe back you can macerate all those diamonds and use it in the mass fab instead of scrap and this will give you quite a bit of uu-matter (I believe 2 diamond dusts = 1 UU)

If you can't afford a Vajra just yet make an age with 1 or 2 dense ores and Meteor, Charged, Scorched Surface. The bad effects should balance out with the dense ores and you should have little to no decay. Then just mine as you usually would and you should get quite a few resources that way.
