Crystal clusters were the easiest to do and I already had an overabundance of shards. Meanwhile, I don't have mob heads stored and they can't be arranged vertically, and tallow candles require a two-step process to make. In fact, I'm wondering why other people don't use crystal clusters as much.
I use mob heads because I get loads of them from my mob farm (or at least I did at one point) and there is no crafting at all involved, just put them down.

They're not as easy to obtain as tallow candles or skulls, for 1... Countless ways to get the materials for the candles, a heavy handful of choices for skulls... and only 2 ways to get crystals for your clusters(and 1 of them is tryharding via magically crops).
Mine a little using RotaryCraft boring machines enchanted with Silk Touch and run the infused stone through an Extractor, and you'll soon have so many shards that you won't know what to do with them. Meanwhile, I'm using skeleton skulls as a source of Spiritus, and anyway I don't run mobtraps constantly, and I don't get that many heads from grinders.

Gotta say, I finished KAMI about 2 weeks ago and the massive effort is WELLLLLLL worth the armor and tools. Easily my favorite set in FTB to date.

Interesting story! Just wondering, but are you having any bugs with the infusion for the Cowl of the Abyssal Depths and the Leggings of the Mantle? I can't seem to infuse them, mainly because they have potions on them and whenever a potion is involved with an infusion it seems to bug out.

No problems whatsoever. I recall that very well because I didn't have anything to make potions when I prepared for those infusions. I had to build something as mundane as a brewing stand and create those potions the vanilla way. It's almost a theme with the Cowl - it uses quite a few things I don't usually have in my store, like raw fish and cake. And potions. Anyway, no bugs.

Strange... What version of TT are you using?
