Hello folks. First post here, be kind! ^^;
So recently I saw the Divine RPG pack on the FTB launcher and thought heck, i'd give it a go. After playing around for some time, NEI'ing in some awesome machine-gun ranged weapons and shooting down some chickens, and getting my pants scared off by a wandering "The eye" plunging me into darkness in my strip mine, I decided it was time to leave for work.

I read up on the wiki on the capabilities within this mod, and really, it does seem like there is a lot of hours that can be had with just this mod, but then I got to thinking; which mods complement it well? My initial thought was the McMMO plugin, for a bit more of an rpg feel, but that's not currently available in SSP (afaik), and also (again, afaik) DRPG doesn't seem to run well on servers (all the servers being down at once recently, and many, many reports of crashes and other bugs when running it online), so I thought about what SSP mods I could use.

My initial thoughts were about weapons, would this mod pack scale well with Balkan's weapon mod? Or would it just be a pointless amount of weapons?
Then I thought about dimensions, are there enough? Would TF and Aether be good additions? Just the more popular dimensional mods I've heard of. Would it just add too much? Or is there never too much..
Thought about adding Mo's creatures. I also wanted to add the latest thaumcraft, for all that additional magic.

What do you guys think, am I going in the right direction with this? I'm actually a novice to modding, only having ever used the FTB pre-packed packs, adding in optifine on ultimate only :3 is any of this even possible (I'll be trying and toiling myself over this evening and tomorrow, at least, day off from work :D), do you think there are any obvious mods I'm missing that would compliment DRPG, or any others i've mentioned, fairly well?

Basically, is this just a pipe-dream? or will it be possible to make such a pack? My ultimate dream with this train of thought would be to design some kind of faction-McMMO server (when the kinks are ironed out with DRPG, using that as a core), I mean, with all those weapons, magics, tamable mobs and such.. I think it'd be an incredibly exiting server, which is why I want to set it up in SSP first.

Opinions?

DRPG seems nice at first.
Then you start exploring the dimensions and realise that each is the same as the last, only with a different colour scheme, mobs with tenfold hit points and an increasingly rare drop chance for the "shards" one needs to make blocks to make a portal to the next dimension to kill mobs to get shards...
All the while grinding each dimension for weapons with proportionally higher damage values each, simply to make the next dimension feasible.

It's a nice idea, but pretty horrible to actually play.

Try installing DamageIndicators if its not already there, simply to see
The actual hit point values of the mobs.

That's why I'm trying to think of all these things to add - unfortunately it seems the aether mod is out of the question?
I just thought with adding balkon's weapon mod - it will probably feel a bit out of place, i guess end-game DRPG weapons are going to be hitting 16 hearts at a time whilst Balkon's weapons are going to be hitting max like, 3? :/

End game 16 hearts?

You DO realise that, say, a random enemy from the overworld, an enthralled dramycryx, which spawns at layers 15 and lower regardless if light level, has stats of Health points250 Attack strength 24.

Mythril Golem

Health points
1400

Yes.
1400 health.
That's a Lotta bullets wasted if ones using Balkans...

However, the halite blade, the strongest sword in DRPG

Halite Blade

Damage: 82 points
Durability: 2000
Attack Style: Melee

At least with Aether II 1.02, performance is a very, very long way from being usable on even high-power machines, and even once it is, there's a lot of work for other mods to properly interact with it. The Aether team's done some very impressive stuff, but it is in alpha for a reason.

You /can/ get it to work with a lot of mods, although running in 1.5.1 complicates some mod choices.

((And, obviously, that's in addition to the question of permission, if you're thinking about a public or even private public modpack. Thaumcraft 3 is /very/ unlikely to give permission to modpackers, for example, and DrZhark generally has Mo' Creatures essentially impossible to get permission.))
