My game crashed and Mojang servers now down - coincidence?

I actually got a blue screen of death, pretty scary. I was flying around in my MPS powersuit in my Monster 1.1.2 world which I had just updated about 30 minutes ago (it never came up in my launcher, I never knew it had been released).

So I reboot, computer seems fine but I still can't play, FTB launcher tells me Mojang is down, which I confirm.

So, (a) did I cause the Mojang crash? Or (b) More seriously, can Mojang's servers going down cause a blue screen of death like that? Yeesh.

I accidentally crashed google by copy/pasting THE whole internet.

I think you can set the launcher to automatically use the most up to date version of a pack, but by default it uses the last one you used AFAIK.

I'm using v1.1.2 now but the Launcher still says v1.1.1 next to Monster. LOL Hey, I know they're moving to a Curse client or something like that (I really don't know much at all) so they probably aren't updating the current launcher very much now. I found it by accident in the drop-down list, I had mine set to "Recommended" so I guess they don't recommend v1.1.2 yet? With blue screens of death, I can see why. Jeez.

Anyhow, I'm dead in the water and not happy. Single player world and I can't play when Mojang goes down? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHAT IS THIS, SIM CITY 5???? (grin)

You have a modular powersuit, don't you? Just turn on your active camo, pick up your railgun and go invade Mojang's server room. Just remember to yell some incomprehensible oaths about the will of Colin.

You know... after your first post I was going to bring up Colin... except unfortunately I just couldn't remember his name despite knowing it began with a "C". :D

Fun fact, if you type Colin into the forum search function there is but ONE instance that isn't about the titular Lord of all things automated.

The worst part is, I had a potentially very destructive crash, my world folder could be corrupted, and I can't even get back into the game to check on it and see. This is like a horror movie for me, where you're right on the edge of your seat and they just leave you hanging... dragging it out...

Servers back up, world is indeed corrupted. Last backup from about an hour ago, but it's v1.1.1 and it would appear to me that my best course of action is to return to that version and forget about the new one. Anyone else have problems like this with Monster 1.1.2?

Seriously, before I play again I'd like to know if Monster v1.1.2 is stable or not - it isn't listed as "Recommended" in my FTB Launcher, so is that what it means? It's not stable? I just lost my world!! I learned long ago to make regular backups so I'm fine but which version do I run now?[DOUBLEPOST=1402441689][/DOUBLEPOST]

it is a good site, I've used it before, but why do I have such a wary view towards anything ending in ".ru"? :)

In other words... you're recommending that in order to determine the status of Mojang's servers, we should go to an unrelated third party site instead of directly to Mojang's site? No that doesn't seem suspicious at all! LOL

The site is legit. The reason you are wary because in most other instances if you are not from Russia, those sites would tend to be fishy.

I always thought the same thing when my game crashed. The servers would always go down, and they would only go down when I crash.

Why me? Haha

I've been playing 1.1.2 in my latest world and I haven't run into any problems yet. Some people have reported BSOD, not sure why or what they were doing to cause that though.
