It's been a few weeks pottering around, following Direwolf20 and learning about a lot of mods, really enjoying his you tube series. I was looking at some of the mods and found one called 'Open Blocks'... there's a hang glider you can make, which is pretty nifty for jumping off a mountain or your base to fly around for a while.
However... when you combine this with the basic electric jet pack from Industrial Craft, oh my! You can raise your altitude with the Jet pack and then just glide to wherever you want to go, you can 'dive' by holding SHIFT to some pretty serious speed. I built the Jet Pack after watching his latest video where he did some crafting with Industrial Craft.
The hang glider really saves on using up all of the Jet Pack fuel/battery as well, providing a huge range.
In a previous mod pack I made the Modular Power Suit, but frankly this is much more fun and much easier to fly around with (Not to mention a heck of a lot easier to make once you get yourself a decent supply of leather), it's highly accessible as long as you can re-fuel / re-charge your jet pack.
Anyway, posted some screen shots of my base so far with me just flying around, if you haven't tried this combination then I definitely recommend it! (I had light setting on 'Moody', so apologies if they are a bit dark).
