Hello! Here is an overview of my base! I'm looking for FEEDBACK and IDEAS on how to improve it and/or what to add! All feedback is appreciated!

Not shown:
- Lava pumping setup in nether
- Tree farm (courtesy of steve's carts)
- Quarry

My main storage, courtesy of ME (I know I don't need all the chests, but I like the look)

Miscellaneous things, mainly tinker's and creosote oil production.

Main wall of machines, some auto-crafting supported (ME)

Power supply (lava power!) along with some of processing machines for items mined (courtesy of BC quarry and that laser drill thing from MFR)

Some IC2 stuff, powered (again) by lava. Mass fabricator setup incomplete.

Looking really nice!
Also, needs moar Rotary Craft. :p
Ah yes, I've heard a lot about that, but quite frankly (using the DW20 pack), there is plenty of stuff I still need to learn how to do properly (bits and pieces from literally every mod), so adding a new one seems a bit overwhelming.

In my opinion, you would probably be better off using a DSU(Deep Storage Unit) for your storage of cobblestone as they hold like 2 billion items.

With regards to your ore processing, are you using just IC2 or Thermal expansion? 'Cause you might better off to use the pulveriser from TE to gets dusts (Reason being is that you get a chance of getting another type of metal) and use IC2 Electric furnace(Overclocked) to smelt.

Also you may find it easier to store your liquids (such as your creosote or lava) in a iron/steel tank from Railcraft.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Personally I'd be tinkering with your magmatic engine room.
Seeing conduits/ducts in a grid has always looked a little weird.
And you could try dropping some Tinker's glass in the floor- let sunlight flood through the base.
(extra-utils has some neat stone with connecting textures, it'll look fairly cool with some vanilla circle stone around the windows/skylights)

I have to agree that Stone Bricks start to look a little bland. That said, I like the blue wood highlights. You could break up the stone bricks with the fancy stone patterns from Tinker's. I've started building out of anything besides stone bricks, except for things like mine entrances, or other structural things where only stone makes sense. I say, having built a stone brick hut for a railstation. :p

I was wondering if having the conduits in a grid was actually having a bad effect in how the game calculate where the power goes. I would think that separate them using covers, so they form one S line would make it's easier for it to calculate (and make it faster/less heavy) on the server. Any idea if that would be so?

My suggestion
Start up a part of your base with a different theme

That theme looks great, nothing against it, but for a challenge perhaps make another building and give it a slightly different theme

As to your post, I don't believe so, Thermal expanion is coded more so to care about the start and finish, and not about the middle for conduits and ducts

I would imagine the S shape would be slightly better, but whether it's noticeable or not? Can't say for sure, but I would be surprised if there was a significant difference.

Asthetics however? It would be interesting to see what patterns you could make with it

I can't see it making a significant difference to server load- it just looks better.

I was just wondering, since I don't know how it actually calculate the path to the 'exit'. For example I created my auto sorting with item conduits, and to avoid it recalculating the same or go into a loop, I tend to just make a S out of it. I might have been 'damaged' from using the buildcraft pipes, where you could easily end up with tons of items just bouncing back and forth.

The only benefit to throwing the added complexity of an IC2 machine in there is the smelting speed. You could offset this by using thermal expansion's underutilized induction smelter which doubles ore immediately. You get rich slag as a byproduct which can triple any ore you are short on, its even better than the extra ingots you get with the pulverizer.

I would suggest focusing on RotaryCraft. It's a really expansive and complex and interesting mod.
