I'm wondering. I've been using Teleposers to move End portal frames to my base. I also added the lava since I suspect it's part of the structure. However, when placing Eyes of Ender on the frame blocks, nothing happened. No End Portal appeared. Why would that be?

Picture?

Also, how deep is the lava?

I'm not at home, the picture has to wait for later. The lava is one block deep, and the portal frame is floating one block above the floor and the lava, just as in an original End portal.

So you have
OXXXO
XLLLX
XLLLX
XLLLX
OXXO
If you were to look down above?
X being the portal frame, L being lava, and O being blank?

There is 1 space gap between where the portal would spawn, and the lava?

The problem would be the direction the portal blocks are facing. They have to face to the inside, however if u telepose them i guess either their "direction" changes or you didnt telepose them to their "original" spot

Yes, that's exactly how it looks - except for a third X in the bottom line of your post, which i think is a mistake on your part ;). Including the one-space gap you can't see from above.

Err....the sides of end portal frame block are different, and they have a specific North/South/East/West orientation on top of a specific up-down orientation? Do you have a source for that? I did, indeed, not move the portal frame blocks to their exact corresponding position in the new place. I was under the impression that end portal frame blocks are all the same and didn't have any individual NBT data or something like that, and that only their placement as parts of a specific structure mattered.

nope, their positioning/side facing matters. u can check it by using creative mode and spawning the portal "circle" around you, opposed to creating it while moving on the outside around it while creating it

Which version would work?

Edit:
You are correct. This is weird... so these blocks have a defined front side which is indistinguishable from the other sides.. Weird.

Probably to make people who don't know what they're doing believe that only the naturally spawned ones work

Don't want to state the obvious, but would it not be simpler to use something like a Mystcraft portal? That way you can also bring XP etc. back.

They may not be playing a pack which has Mystcraft installed.
Also, not everyone likes Mystcraft, some intentionally remove it.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Can you travel to the End for the first time without using an End Portal? I'll take a teleportation device there, yes, but I like having the End portal there for convenience. And because it's cool.

It needs to be below layer 64 and overworld

You can if you eat an ender cake from Ex Astris/Ex Aliquo

Yeah what I meant was simply to find the portal, go through, kill dragon, set portal thingy of your choice(I usually use mystcraft and often have a return book set in advance to set up in the end) and now have 2-way transport to the end directly from my base. Then I jump through the vanilla portal just for good measure. Don't ever need to go back to the vanilla portal ever again.
