I am experiencing some lag during some actions using the Monster ModPack.
Anybody else is experiencing the same?
Any tips to fix it?

i have this all the time. I run monster on an old laptop so I have to make serious choices on what I leave running and what I disable, graphics options, etc.

1) render: far = bad. drop that a couple notches. even with tiny distance it still spikes occasionaly, but at least its smooth
2) set all the graphics down to minimal settings. smooth lighting off, particles minimal, no advanced gl, no clouds
3) no sounds. a few machines and items make sounds, and things like the mfr harvester and mob grinders, those flood you with a lot of sounds.
4) try setting task priority higher. assuming windows, launch ftb, open your task manager, find the javaw process thats killing your cpu, right click on it and 'Change Priority', set it to High. do NOT do realtime, your machine will puke steamy chunks in your lap.
5) in the launcher options tab, try giving java some more memory if you can afford it. I cruise with 2.5 gigs and seems to behave
6) anything running thats not mc related? torrents, chat apps, email, etc. memory and bandwidth hogs, that might impact things. i know modern machines should multitask, and do it well, but with MC...you really dont wanna do that ;)

the last option: disable mods. lots of em. Most times I'm doing test builds in creative or survival single player, so I dont need everything running. I focus mostly on tech mods so mystcraft, twighlight forest, thaumcraft and all the little things like obsidiplates, flatsigns, denpipes...they all get disabled. up to you how you juggle the list, as long as you juggle it. trust me, monster with a full mod list is not possible on this laptop ;)

I have tried optifine with the launcher with mixed success..depends on your hardware. It doesnt do much for me, but you can try it and see if it gives you a little edge.

I am considering reduce the mods.
But we are running a private server.
Just delete the mods from server will work fine?

oh i dont know, i would assume it would be better if a server was running the pack, less work on your machine. in that case, you might have something running in the background competing for your bandwidth? if your on wifi...not much you can do about it, except kill anything that uses bandwidth like chat, email, voice chat. i dont know how to disable mods on a server...youd have to experiment with that

I am running the server in another machine, hosted at home.
I tryed two ways to access it. First, i was accessing it through cable conection to internet. That´s why i thought the problem was with my conection.
Than i tryed to access the server by LAN, and the same lag persists. So that´s not a bandwidth matter.

I´m running the game in a Intel i7 quad core 3,3Ghz, Corsair GTX 16GB, AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Crossfired x2 (3 GB GDDR3 1050 MHz). I doubt my machine is too slow for it... as i said, i run battlefield 4 with all graphics set to ultra without any lag at all, at 70FPS...

Doesn´t any other person is having this problem?

Yeah Monster is harsh on older machines. A pack with 183 mods in it will tend to do that.

In my first playthrough with it I tested out a bunch of the mods I hadn't used before (after turning down graphics options and upping memory assigned to FtB to the feasible maximum my poor old PC could live with), now I have a new world with some stuff cut out.

I got it down to 130ish and it runs a lot smoother.

As i said, i don´t think my problem is my machine clocks... unless this modpack makes minecraft much, much heavy than BF4 ULTRA...
