Hey,
I've done my share of research, and am at a bit of a loss as to where to go from here - I'm running a dedicated local server, and even when it is just me on the server I notice mobs moving slow, for example zombies walking only in two-step increments typically - they don't seem to be moving "live" but rather more like a slow march. On the other side of the coin, breaking/placing blocks moves very quickly, and when I destroy the last segments of a tree i will notice the leaves disappear almost instantly. So, the symptom, slow monster mobs, even villagers are moving fluidly from my experience.
In terms of specs for my server, it is an I5 2.6 GHZ processor, 4 GB RAM allocated/usable by the server with another 1 GB RAMDrive for hosting the files; total of 12 GB on the machine). The machine is a freshly reloaded/reimaged copy of Win7 Pro, running strictly the ramdrive and server. I run a client on a separate system and watch the server activity with no drop in RAM allocation when I'm seeing the mobs moving slow (I seem to consistently be in the 90% AVAILABLE threshold for RAM). I've dropped view distance, but the issue still persists. I'm a repair tech by trade, so I know programs, my instinct is definitely less the system handling the server, more some lack of actually allocating/utilizing the processing power available; any mods or advice that would help better utilize the resources available? We're talking even just one person logged on the server, locally (over LAN), having issues, so I know it's not net connectivity either.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
