Anyone else having problems orienting these steam engines? They only want to either face up, or into one another.....?

edit
I am using redstone energy conduit and fluiduct on them, and the crescent hammer to rotate.

Use TE steam dynamos instead. TE's conduits do not accept MJ anymore (using TE's Redstone Flux instead), but they do output MJ when connected to MJ-compatible machinery.

I thought I read that you had to use more dynamos, and that you can make a more compact array of Ind Steam Engines. I think I am going to use ender IO for the power line

Steam dynamos output 80 RF/t, equivalent to the industrial steam engine's 8 MJ/t.

Oh, also steam dynamos do not require a redstone signal to turn on (unless they're configured to do so), so you can fit something like 50% more into the same space.
