Hey guys,

I'm back to FTB now since I abandoned our FTB Ultimate Server for about a half year ago.
Now we're playing on a popular FTB Monster Server (MineYourMind), never ever want to endure the pain of being an MC-Admin again.

Since GregTech is removed I'm kinda helpless about the Energy-Generation.

What's an effective way to get
  1. EU power for our AE-System
  2. independant power for our Quarry
I've heard BigReactor is a good way to start with. But is it easy to setup, also, is it relyable? (I kinda like to see a mechanism which I build one time and never have to re-visit again)
Solar Panels are so boring...

Some told be also to make an Ender-Pearl farm and run it with the Pearl-Engines.
But I struggle of maintaining an Endermen farm since I can't make a mob-trap in "The End" ...
The Spawner from MFR require essence, which can't be obtained just by slaying the Endermen. Any solution for this?

Also I'd like to talk about the Extractor.
I managed to make it run via Ethanol-Generator, 16:1 gearbox with flowing oil in it so it won't be damaged. But it is so freaking SLOW. It's kinda MUCH more effective to farm mass ores and run it through the pulverizer than investing the time on the extractor.

Also I've to switch the mode by hand on the Gearbox every time so it can do the other steps.

Any way to speed it up and automatize the progress from switch the mode on the gearbox?

So, i will try to be of help with atleast 2 things here:

Mobessence: You will have to make either a Vanilla Mobfarm or an Animal farm to get enough mob essence. Unless it still works with slimes (spawning big ones, damaging them to split them into small ones, put the small ones in front of the grinder)

Extractor:
Well, the best way to make it go faster is to use two of them. have one receive a lot of torque for steps 1 and 4, the other receive a lot of speed for steps 2 and 3 (still meeting the speed and torque requirements of course). Then put a router on top of both with a machine filter upgrade (and a speed upgrade would be good) and have the routers pull out the items from stage 1 and 3 respectively.
As for powering them: i would personally suggest using magnetostatic engines, coupled with shaft junctions and gearboxes/CVTs, and producing the required RF using rotational dynamos (as i personally like to use rotarycraft stuff to power rotarycraft stuff)

Don't give up on the extractor. For now, build a multi clutch and some kind of timer, a computer works well as does a Project:Red Timer/Statecell combination. Then use it on rare materials you are critically short on.
After that, get deeper into the RotaryCraft tech tree. You'll need 2 important things: Bedrock and Jetfuel. Since you are quarrying anyway, the easiest way to power the bedrock breaker are 4 hydro engines with water falling from Y70~75 all the way down to the bottom, it'll go slow but you don't need much of the stuff. Fuel isn't really a challenge, the ingredients may be annoying if you can't farm them yet.
Once you got all that stuff, make a gas turbine, a CVT and a gearbox (4x should be enough) and hook that all up to the extractor. Now have fun figuring out a way to smelt a stack per second since that's the output of a properly run extractor :)

That, Sir, is an brilliant idea, will do when I'm back home.

If that's not enoguh you also have to power all these machines...

Yupp, bedrock is lubrication free, diamond runs forever on one bucket, the rest needs resupply.

A modest magic crops farm should be able to provide all the additives, but I have to admit that's my next project so no hard numbers. Just one thought to put this effort into relation though: We are talking about an engine that outputs the equivalent of about 8 36HP boilers.

Is there any GOOD tutorial on Magic Crops? (Never seen/used it before)
Heard it's kinda like Cheated-Bee's...

I'm thinking to do a video-tutorial series by myself... But in kinda like Gordon Ramsays "Simple, fast, easy", without the unnecessary gibberish that they mostly do, stretching one simple 3-minute tutorial to a 20-minute video....

There are still some questions open:
  • Good early infinite EU-Source for AE-System
  • Early independent source for Quarry

For an early EU source i would recommend an mfr treefarm -> turn wood to charcoal -> burn charcoal for energy which is used for the treefarm and whatever you want to power.
Cheap, easy to build, can be expanded and can be used for EU and RF (AE can use both btw).
Later you can even use a Boiler with it (or several with a big treefarm). You could even build a small version of this to power stirling engines/ steam dynamos for a quarry.

As an Alternative for the quarry:
Use Rotarycraft Steam engines with rotational dynamos (remember to put energy conduits between the dynamos and the quarry). Later on i would personally just put a Tesseract down to give energy to the quarry and send the items to your base.

Regarding the steam engines, You would need a bunch of them to even get 20 RF out of those dynamos. You'd be better off with a steam dynamo or a photovoltaic cell from ender IO.

Then you would need 32 photovoltaic panels... I think I'll try to rush some Energy-Tesseracts, since I am about to build an Ender-Pearl farm today anway.
Still interested in alternatives if I realy want to make a video-series.

Now, you could use 4-6 hydrokinetics daisy chained and hooked up to a rotational dynamo to power the quarry. All you'd need is a canola farm and a 64 block high waterfall for the kinetics(and you can do a artificial waterfall). Produces roughly 300-500 RF/t

You don't need ethanol generator for the Extractor. You can use 4 Steam engines and sum their torque using a couple of Shaft Junctions, then put that power through a 16:1 gearbox and in to the extractor. It won't speed it ut anything though, but you don't have to care about fuel anymore.
You'll have to switch the gearbox between torque mode and speed mode for the different phases though

Made a Tree-Coal-Coke and an Ender-Pearl-Farm via Magical-Crops, but it feels kinda like cheated Bee's TBH...

But well, Ender-Generators are on the way.
It seems like most people like RotaryCraft... I kinda dislike this modpack honestly.
