So I just bought a private FTB server and installed Monster 1.1.1 and Gregtech on it. I tried making an Alloy Smelter and the recipe displays, but I cannot 'craft' it (the output slot shows an icon but I cannot drag it into my inventory). "EnderIO-1.6.4-1.0.0.343.jar" is in the server (and players) "mod" folder, but I do not see a config (unless it was named differently?). All my players and server are running the same version of EnderIO as well (1.0.0.343).

Is there a reason for this disabled feature? Can I re-enable it on my sever?

Sounds more like a config mismatch, but I'm not using GregTech and know it can be quite invasive. Still I never heard it having this effect. The Ender IO config is in a subfolder (config/enderIO). Make sure client and server config match. Also 1.0.6 is the current version, might want to update.

Wow I totally missed the folder 'enderio' and went straight for the .cfg file and never saw it before. So that folder has 5 files in it:
  • AlloySmelterRecipes_Core.xml
  • AlloySmelterRecipes_User.xml
  • EnderIO.cfg
  • SAGMillRecipes_Core.xml
  • SAGMillRecipes_User.xml
Is there anything in those files that I can go into and flip the switch from it being off to on? If nothing in the configs would allow me to make this work, I assume updating the mod itself would require the server + all 5 of my users update (wouldn't it corrupt the world-save?).

I'd have a look in EnderIO.cfg, but as I've said, that doesn't sound like something based on a config setting, more like a mismatch between server and client config. Compare the file on the server to the one on the client. That would be my primary guess.
You could also start a SSP world and check whether it works there.

If nothing in the configs would allow me to make this work, I assume updating the mod itself would require the server + all 5 of my users update (wouldn't it corrupt the world-save?).
  • Before updating, always make a backup. At least of the world folder, better both world and config, optimally everything
  • Yes, everybody has to update, including the config
  • The way I do it is update on my client and go into a test world to see wheter everything is ok. You might have to fix ID conflicts and that can only be done efficiently on the client (I don't even know how a dedicated server reacts on id conficts). Make sure to also check the forge log for item id conflicts. Forge quits minecraft with a message on block id conflicts, but you won't notice item id conflicts if you don't look into the forge log.
  • So before updating do two things: make a test world and dump ids (NEI -> options-> tools -> data dumps -> click all dump). That gives you csv files of everything in the game that has an id of some kind. items.csv is the most important one that helps you sort out id conflicts.

It turns out it was an issue with creating the smelter with a worktable as opposed to a traditional crafting table. Oh my gosh lol

I am having issue with crafting alloy smelter in Ender IO. I followed the recipe, but nothing shows up.

So far other things I have crafted with EnderIO have had no problems. I am using MC 1.7.10 and Ender IO version 1.7.10_2.0.5.214
