Mojang's new Vanilla Launcher

Since modded MC has their own launchers I doubt that there will be much differences for us.
I like the idea of "making sure" that the less experienced users have the right Java for their architecture.

Right now, it means little. However, I foresee many modders moving to Java 8, the same version bundled with the new launcher. Which is awesome. I don't see anything bad coming out of this.

I don't really see anything bad either... It could significantly reduce the 32bit vs. 64bit Java issues we see, and also make sure that no specific system users have to go searching for add-ons so Java works with their OS.

I also think that this will allow Mojang a bit more leeway to rewrite and optimize internal game systems, since they won't have to worry about compatibility with older Java versions.
