Well it is in primary setting of the mod therefore it is part of a mod. Any alternative settings are well alternative. As said again. If I join the server I have no control of any alternative settings. And the I don't want to install modpack and them go through each mod config to make sure they want bite me.

Ah yes, the power of defaults hard at work again. See, the setting is there because some people do change configs now and then. It's a option that is there mostly, I suppose, because they spawn entities, and that can cause lag. And then there are seeds that literally spawn entities, like the squid seed or the slime seed.

But then again, a wise coder takes these sort of things into account. Maybe the setting exists because they knew it's cool enough to warrant leaving on, but can be a issue in the end so they added the setting because, like a wise coder, they saw a problem and made a solution that doesn't really cause any issues in the end.

But the power of defaults is why people bemoan DartCraft(well, that, and Anchoring, but that's another discussion) yet sing the praises of TiC for adding less balanced things that do what DartCraft does as a paragon of balance, and why when DartCraft allows you to pick up machines, chests, and a handful of other blocks, it's evil and bad and unbalanced, and when TE3 does it as cheap as DartCraft used to(and DartCraft has long since balanced that mechanic) it is the best mod ever despite all but ripping off DartCraft with that mechanic in the first place.
But the whole DartCraft vs The World issue is another discussion, but that bit sure as hell applies here. IMO, anyway.

For me if someone makes a shitty, laggy mechanics and then rather than fixing it implements config to make it less shitty laggy by disabling it full stop it isn't wise at all. As I said making it wise would be making it work in similar fashion but with less lags. I gave you two examples how I would do it but I see that you have chosen to ignore them as they didn't fit in your agenda very well.

Your two solutions are just bury your head in the sand and not use a config that exists because it's a issue, or just remove the mod instead of dealing with the issue and deciding that removing the mod is less trouble then editing a single config file slightly.
Sorry if I didn't see any actual solutions in your response, because all I saw was a inability to just edit a freaking config file and let it go.

Well I see you are just determined to refuse any other option than sped hours through 140+ mods configs to make sure they won't lag. It is hard to have mature discussion with that attitude so that's it from me in that topic unless someone else post something.

One config file with a handful of true to false choices. Yes, hours for sure. But if you're done, I guess we're done. Because even though I wish people would take the time to understand how fucking hard it is to make good configs, let alone pick the right settings for your server, here we are with 1 million Direwolf20 servers with no changes or added mods(obvious hyperbole is really fucking obvious).

I hate to say this, but if those hours slaving over those 140 configs to get it all just right for your server isn't in your blood, you're very lucky the FTB Team has something called "Universal Configs", a great idea that's great but dead in the water once we all jump ship to 1.7 finally. But then the configs simply don't edit IDs, but that doesn't mean they are less important.

Because anything like a Minecraft server is nothing more then a Labor of Love. Take all the pain and suffering that comes with it, or don't take it at all.
