Okay, something that I have always wanted is armor for utility, not necessarily for protection. A perfect example would be slime boots from TiCo. They don't provide any armor, but grant immunity to fall damage (albeit in a slightly annoying, or awesome, way... depending on your perspective), and combined with the Slimesling is one of the most interesting and amusing methods of conveyance anyone has yet devised.

But what I want is more stuff you equip that does useful things other than 'more defense'.

I'm not such a fan of Botania anymore, it's changed too much from the original concept, and has become something I don't really care for, but the baubles you could create from Botania would have been excellent examples. A belt that gives you speed boost and step assist, an amulet that protects against fire, that sort of thing.

However, there seems to be a dearth of equippable equipment that does this. I'd really love for some more baubles, but it seems that Botania is almost the only mod out there that has really delved into the whole bauble thing. Thaumcraft back in 1.7 had some awesome ideas, but... well... it's 1.12 era these days, and Thaumcraft isn't going to happen anymore.

DE armor is stupidly powerful, but that's not what I'm looking for either, because it *IS* stupidly powerful. I'm looking for tradeoff between utility and protection, not 'can haz all the things'.

Does anyone have suggestions for mods that add some useful utility equipment?

I've got Trinket's and Baubles installed, which adds a few items of varying power for crafting. I believe some of the Reliquary items can be stuck into Bauble slots.

I'm not sure what you wanted Botania to be, but I agree it's lost it's way somewhat, mostly in the name of unobtainable balance. Between waffling on changes, and ditching passive flowers for something that's just annoying to automate, rather than actually interesting. Except of course for things like the Dandelifeon which requires some work to get functioning to best effect and has a couple of options to the best of my knowledge. Or other things that are useful and so get hit so hard with a nerf that they become completely useless. The author seems to forget people play to have fun, not only to grind all the things.
