Modify Player's Inventory ?

Hey

Currently I am playing The Dark Trilogy mod pack and I have the following idea:
I would like to be able to clear a players inventory, dump the content into a chest and equip him with a special set of items afterwards.

Now I am looking for some way to clear the player's inventory. So far I could not find any block or item which can do that.

You can do this in vanilla with command blocks. I believe the command is something like "clear @p" or something similar. You can probably find the actual resources you need in the link below.

Just a note, that is probably updated for 1.8, so you'll have to do quite a bit of testing.

I know that command blocks give you options to manipulate a plyer's inventory but I am trying to avoid them

Random Things "Player Interface" is probably what you want. It allows you to insert/extract items from inventories as if it was any other inventory in game.
If it is possible to creatively place them for other people's inventories I don't know. Probably not for security reasons. You might need each player to place their own.

MFFS can steal a players inventory, or Mystcraft disarming book and a vacuum hopper to pick up all the dropped items.

Thank you for the ideas so far! Unfortunately neither MFFS nor Random things or MystCraft are included in the Dark Trilogy ModPack. I'm going to look into OpenPeripherals now and hope that I'll find something useful there.

Pneumaticraft aerial interface? Granted, it only works for the placer, but still matches what you are saying.
