16 gigs of ram in this PC, and im using dedictating 9 gigs for my game(unless hosting, then its like 4 gigs for the game and 6 gigs for the server)

Magic Farm ran well enough for me with 1 gig. I was able to get some oddball things in creative, but only rendering leaks in survival -- which may have been that particular build of ... (was it oysters from Maricultyre?)

I could not stress it to fail without automation. I tried. I could stress it to freeze up the normal collector, but not the CMS collector.

So yea, some mod packs can run without 17 gigs available.
