24 *revives old discussion topic* Seriously though, even if all the actual mods went on vacation, the forum probably wouldn't get overrun with spam. Pyure, rhn, DrowElf, and myself all have access to the Spam Cleaner tool, meaning that we can ban accounts less than a month old that have made less than five or so posts and delete their posts.

Gideon and Padfoote did too, before they got promoted.

31 No, we're not mods; we don't have the ability to do anything beyond ban accounts that are likely to be spambots anyway. If a spambot makes five link-less posts in quick succession (so the posts don't need moderator approval) or creates an account and waits a month before doing anything, there's nothing that I can do. An actual moderator is needed for those cases; fortunately, they're relatively rare.
