If I change lenscas's name, he'll still get pinged. That's because the member ID is still the same. The member ID is what allowed @CoolSquid to change from @CoolSquid321 without losing all of the already attached pings and posts and whatnot.You can find the member ID by going to there profile - ex lenscas's:

Note that it's the same as the member ID in the BBcode for the quote. If I wanted to change it to quote xTordx, I'd grab the member id from his profile (132762) and put that in the member portion:

2 that is the same thing I assumed but as sgbros1 then claimed that he didn't get a ping I taught that maybe the forum software for some reason changed the id to match the name.
