What was that holiday actually?
It's a celebration of the victory of the Mexican Army's victory against the French at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5th, 1862. Basically, it was significant, as the Mexican army was outnumbered one to three (2000 vs 6000), but they still managed to come out on top. Although it was a very signifcant battle in the fight for Mexican independence, it is not to be confused with the Mexican Independence Day, which is on September 16th.
