"Mod Tutors"

I am a flat out noob at modded minecraft. But, I know that there are some extremely talented players out there who are better then me. Is anyone willing to tutor me in modded minecraft, I just need to know some basics of basic mods. For example, Thaumcraft, IC2, Greg Tech, and mods like that. I can supply a server if needed. Reply below if you wish to be of assistance.

Thaumcraft does a pretty good job of telling you what everything does/is used for in the Thaumonomicon. I could probably answer most questions about it beyond that as long as you aren't on the newest versions

You may want to take a look at the 3rd party modpack section. As HQM gains in popularity there are some amazing teaching packs. Because you mentioned Gregtech and ic2 the pack "learnGT" comes to mind I play the 1.6.4 version but I think it is being updated. The old one should be fine for a starting point. It literally walks you thru all the ins and outs of various mods

Check DW20 ssp seasons, he covers the basic stuff. Gets a bit repetitive but oh well

You want also want to start with mods liek thaumcraft, botania, witchery, etc... Where basicly everything is written in a sexy craftable book

Also, you can just ask question in ask a simple question thread. Unless you ask obvious stuff like why can't I power blood magic with rf (or they are rambling about some crap again), you usualy get and answer

You learn a lot also by trial and error. Get a little creative world and try stuff out!

Yeah, it's great. When it's working...

For me it's a lucky dip as to whether it will connect to the IRC server.

If I may ask you a quick ae2 question? I don't get channels and have absolutely no desire to learn. Am I reading the config file right that I can turn them off?

I think you can. Ask someone else though because I dont like configs. *says the mod dev that makes configs* and I have heard that you can turn them off but I have not personally looked at the ae2 config. But in game stuff im good at.

AE2 channels seem pretty cool to me, just an excuse to make everything bigger which I dont mind when its such an integral mod. And lately, Direwolf plays extremely sloppily, you might be better off watching someone else like Kingdaddydmac who knows how to progress fast.

The channels just confused the hell out of me when I was trying to use a ton of barrels so I just gave up. I honestly dont watch direwolf anymore. His sense of humor stared to bug me. Too many in jokes for my taste. I only watched him because he used to seem to have exclusive access to devs. As more people talk to you guys I have moved on. Vaygrim, corjaantje and Dave Fayram are my go to channels now.
