Mod Packs still not downloading

I have been working with this problem for several weeks. I am still unable to download any mod pack. I have read all the informational posts with suggestions. I have uninstalled and completely removed anything having to do with Ftb and started over with a clean slate. I have removed and reinstalled java. Mod packs will not download. I can play modpacks once they are on the launcher. I have turned off security software and my firewall. I have even used a different launcher to play a non-ftb mod pack without issue. I tried to replicate the problem on a windows7 ia64 machine. I couldn't. It downloaded OK.

Your version of Java JRE is right. I'll provision a Win8 box here and try to repro it on Win8 (your OS).

The timeout error in the log makes me suspect that there's a problem with the network at your site. But only you can tell us differently. You're obviously able to reach this forum, etc.. Same computer? Same network?

Yes same computer and network. The problem is only downloading modpacks. I can play already downloaded packs and get on servers just fine. I downloaded AT Launcher and a modpack for it without problems.

So does that mean it is a Java issue, Forge issue or both? I've had Windows 8 since early this year and haven't had trouble with FTB launcher until now.

Its not Java nor FTB issue.

Your installation is holding some data that is incorrect.

I hate to ask this-- but under Options, select a new folder, choose Unleashed, Launch

i am having this issue as well. not sure what to do.. i deleted my virus protection, java, and the launcher. Downloaded java 7 u45 again than the launcher again and it still isnt working. i tried running as admin and also moved where the modpack info gets stored. still getting the error message.
