So I recently started a server and made my usual base, power gen using charcoal and steam, a mfr tree farm, and an me system to store all of my stuff. This was going well until my tips on the server started dropping because of the builds, so I removed some mods from my pack, and started again. I am hoping not to have the same problems, but i was wondering...

What is the most server-friendly:

Power-gen: (enough to power into late game)
Tree farm:
Mining system:
Storage system: (basically ae or lp)

I have been doing some testing on my old server to see what went wrong, and it seemed that the mfr tree farm caused a lot of lag in the game, as well as translocators.

Thank you guys for your input!

Let me clarify that a little bit, I don't mean power gen like the engines, I mean the power source, like steam versus mfr bioreactors, versus charcoal. Sorry that I didn't explain that clearly enough.

Some TPS drop is from items backing up in the system when they have no where to go. If you dont have any logic to turn things off, backed up systems check to see if they can do stuff many times more frequently than when they dont need to. Loops in conduits and pipes also arent healthy.

If you were to give us a sense of scale you were working with it might point us to a reason why your tps was dropping rather than just because you used those mods.

For power gen lava is a common and pretty good way to go. Or having 9 mfr farms and using their outputs to make biofuel and using the biofuel in reactant dynamos.
Tree farm is probably mfr but there is no really good server efficient tree farm
Mining is either extra utilities ender quarry or mekanism digital miner
Storage system ae beats LP but Steve's factory manager is both more powerful and more server friendly

For mining, Quarries can be server friendly once they become big enough. Eventually, the amount of caves and lava lakes you remove will outweigh the extra blocks loaded because of the sides of the quarry. To get there, however, requires you to cross a treshold of quite nasty lag.

I guess MFR Laser Drills are a very server friendly way to acquire ores late-game, but they have kind of a high entry treshold too.

Normally on a single player it's not common to go below 20 tps, you need some really gigantic/bad builds for that.

Scale... Hmm... Max size mfr tree farm, with s full power boiler, both being routed through the me system, which collected the wood, then sent it to the steam oven. The harvester from mfr was using a ridiculous amount of tick time on the server...

But my server was pretty close to overloaded with the amount of mods being used, I was using the dw20 pack and I was using 90% of my ram even when nobody was on. I removed some mods and I am down to 30% ram usage! but I still want to keep my base efficient so other people can build as well as me.

My first post. I feel old now.
