I have to admit, i have a strange obsession over finding more and creative ways of getting mobs to spawn, killing them and processing their loot. in that quest i discovered a few things, a major one being all those spoils bags that drop when you have dartcraft enabled. Dartcraft is cool, but the spoils bags have one major defect (or not)...you absolutely cannot do 100% automation with them. they must go through the players inventory in order for them to create the spoils they drop. once a player holds one in their inventory...then you can have fun with it. and out comes this:

photo album here: http://s653.photobucket.com/user/MaudDibb/library/moblooter

that massive tower is a darkroom spawner, using cursed earth to bring in all the common mobs at a much faster rate, including ender 'tots', cute little baby enders that spawn adults when they die. the platforms all have conveyors on the edges to push the mobs into the water pit at the bottom. the grinder at the bottom is a simple trap, water pushes them into the spikes. the single spike pointing down takes care of the mobs that slip past the main spike ring. under the spike pointing down is a single obby pipe with a redstone energy cell set to 1mj output that takes care of grabbing the loot and sending it off via tesseracts. it could be done with redstone engines too, but when i messed with t5 spawners, it was too slow to grab the loot, so i went with the REC. right now there are no t5 spawners, it was just ridiculous how much loot that generates.

the processing/storage area is a bit much (almost 90 unique items being handled at the moment, and thats not counting the enchanted books!). but then again, spoils bags bring in a huge variety of items, and this system processes all of it, with a couple extras. The dsu with the bags has a chest in front of it, this is where you dump the bags. From that chest all items are sorted out to the main sorting pipe above the storage area or to a chest with an uncrafting table next to it. the uncrafting table that will take apart almost all the crafted items that come from the bags, but its not part of FTB. im not using the twilight mod table...that one requires exp and a player using it. The one im using is a seperate mod called Uncrafter (mc forum link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...nnis234s-mods-uncrafter-playertrans-suntorch/) that will take apart most items (does not like mods with craftmanagers, like ic2) at no cost, but only 1 item per second, and return the raw items into the storage room. another feature is the force pipes, converting gold swords, bows and copper armor/weapons to their base materials. last feature is the unifier at the end of the force pipes, making sure we only get 1 brand of tin, copper, bronze, etc (i believe its all converted to TE metals). the redstone outside is a simple timer that triggers an autarchic gate slow enough to pipe one item at a time into the uncrafting table and give the router next to it time to grab the raw items before the next item gets pumped in. theres extra processing going on outside, like recycling planks from the output of the uncrafting table to sticks for the frame production outside, and sending carts back to the uncrafter (from tnt carts) to get the iron.

outside is a little experiment im running, involving an alveary with a fiendish queen generating lava. a nether bee in the overworld, you say? well its possible if you bring its temp/humidity tolerances down enough that it will work in an alveary with 3 heaters running, and tweak it to behave with rocks. theres a set of routers set to feed it untreated frames. wood comes from 5x5 mfr tree farm, but this one is pretty light. it uses sickly tree saplings from twilight, which grow incredibly fast without the need for fertilizer. that and boosted with the planks/sticks coming from the recycled items from the spoils bags, im in no danger of running out anytime soon. I get a lot of oblivion frames from the bags, so thats good if I need quick bee breeding down the line

im sure someone noticed the portal guns, those came from the bags ;)

its OP i guess, but hey, thats why this is called the feed the beast ;)

lol. well considering a darkroom spawner drops so many bags....at one point i had like 250 sitting in the dsu

to put it simply: the mother of all invention is laziness. i got tired of hand sorting all that stuff ;)

This is wonderful. I really am tempted to build something like this now, is the cursed earth affected by a magnum torch?

From my testing it isn't (just checked in a 1.6.4 world to make certain) neither are spawners of any sort.

Yeah I am not at home so could not test myself and the wiki does not state one way or the other. So since they come from the same mod it all really depened on how they were coded.

So it is good to know you can Magnum spam your base and still use cursed earth for a mob room.

nope magnum torches dont affect cursed earth or soul shard spawners. no effect on mfr spawners either. they are there to keep the naturally spawning ones in the immediate area out of the way, flat lands can attract a lot of slimes

you absolutely cannot do 100% automation with them.

Actually, you can. Just not with a base FTB pack. Install Random Things, build a Player Interface, hook up an ME Precision Export Bus to one of the four sides, set it to export loot bags. Loot bags will begin filling up your inventory. Hook up an ME Fuzzy Import Bus to one of the three remaining sides, set it to import loot bags - route these to your chosen method of deploying contents.

100% automated loot bags. Enjoy :)

Well I did build a smaller version of this somewhat, using hoppers and MFR Grinder to collect essence and spoil bags for my other auto spawners. I have 4 grinders just to keep up with the mob pileup at the bottom of the tower, but i am producing quite a few spoils bags, just too lazy to open them all.
