Mining laser doesn't make any noise?

As the title says, my mining laser isn't making any sound when I fire it. I've looked through the configs to if there's anything that disables it, but i've found nothing. Can anyone help?

Does the mining laser make sound normally? I don't think it does, but I usually make "zap pow" type sounds when I'm using it, so if it does I may not be hearing them over the sound of my own sounds.

IC2 sounds are disabled ATM due to a sound bug. I think it may be one of the things that'll get fixed in the new version that's being updated in the DW20 and MC packs currently being tested.

A soung bug? But hasn't it been like this for ages? It hasn't made any sound for as long as I can remember. I only remembered to post something about it just now.

In 1.2.5 My IC2 devices made noise by default (macerators running out of power drove me nuts). If I remember, at some point since then sounds were disabled by default until the bug could get fixed.

1.109 changelog says "fixed sounds"

DW20/MC packs both have had at least this version if my numbers aren't public school derived, but the sounds are disabled still. Was this a config default by FTB?

I re-enabled the sounds in both the server and client configs. They work as expected and I haven't had any issues with them so far.

Same. Here's the option you're looking for in IC2.cfg:
