So, my computer is by no means crappy.. atleast wasnt two years ago. I have a Gtx 660 gpu, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU, 6gb of ram etc, I've installed optifine and tried even uninstalling mods Id never use with the mod pack, still I get 10-20 fps with the occasional fps spike increase to 70 for a split second.
I'm just curious, what in the world do I need to upgrade to make direwolf 20 run at about 60 fps? I thought about upgrading my ram to 16 gigs but people were saying the mod packs use only 2-3 gigs at full potential? Surely I dont need to upgrade my graphics card for minecraft.. so is my cpu not equiped to handle it? Or is there some other spec I need to focus on? Really hate not even being able to play ftb..

Install Fastcraft. That should help quite a bit. Also, make sure you don't give java more than 4GB. With my DW20 pack, I actually use 2.75.

A clean 60fps is actually really hard to hit on 1.7.10 modpacks. It's a huge mess. You're better off just not worrying about it, else you could spend $2,000 upgrading your PC and still not get a clean 60fps.

Well, actually, anything from the range of 40-50 (What im typically used to getting) would be very niec and playable, but clearly walking around getting 15 fps is a buzzkill, but Ill look into it and see what it does for me, thanks for the tip!

NP, but I still think staying even in the 40-50 range is asking a bit much for 1.7.10. I can get well over 100, then plummet down to like 10. It's rather crazy, even before you build anything:(

Perhaps updating the Forge versions and all of the mods might help. ( Modpacks are often well behind due to the time and effort it takes to put them together, test, fix problems found, re-test, modify configs, etc. )

since 1.7.10 there is a problem with the fps
in 1.6 i got around 100-120 fps
i can still reach that with fastcraft in 1.7.10 but it has spikes
i locked the fps at 40
for me it doesn't spike anymore

i also have given mc 6 GB to load
just to be sure xD
