Here is the scenario. Server is up, a lot of building is done but with increase player activity + exploring is lagging the system.

Can I run MLG using the ftb jar and my server config file w/ seed, etc and have it generate the world out to like 16000 on a different server, and then when complete, copy the already built regions from the main server over the MLG regions so that the world is generated and the built structures and land changes made by the players remains intact?

If so, are there any extra steps I will need to take to assure a smooth transition?

I answered myself. It works just fine. Make sure you use the ftb server jar in the process. When you do this though, you will have small gaps still between the explored and the pre genned.
