Howdy! Ever since the ftb 1.2.7 update it takes way longer time to boot up minecraft. Not the exe per say, but booting the game has gone up from 1 minute to 5, in some cases, 10 minutes. It's the Direwolf20 1.5.2 package. I've installed some mod upgrades as well as them universal electricity mods if this helps out. They shouldn't slow the bootup methinks.

Hardware? What CPU, RAM, HD?

It might be a long shot, but if you see a performance decrease in general, take a look at your hard disk, it might be failing. Also scan your computer for virus.

You can just take a look at the logs. Of course it takes a huge time to load. The old Direwolf20 Modpack had like ~70 mods. The new one got 120+. With those Universal Electricty mods you say you've added, well of course it takes a long time.
Your hard drive/SSD is the biggest factor. Having lots of RAM is for in-game performance, bigger clock speed won't be monumental for loading times. The CPU is also important, especially the per-core clock, not how many cores it has. A 3GHz dual-core is more powerful for Minecraft than a 2.5GHz Quad core with hyperthreading and all.
So yes, FTB loads waaay longer than vanilla Minecraft, waaay longer than how it once loaded, so the best thing you can do is to remove mods you deem unimportant. Big mods especially increase loading times. IC2 ~ 30 seconds + UE ~ 30 seconds + BC ~ 30 seconds etc.
