I launch the mod pack through the launcher, loads fine. Tried loading a single player map, worked fine. Tried joining a friends server running Mindcrack.

Then the error message comes up whilst it is still joining. I have attached the error report file (As the post has to be under 10000 characters)

Any help would be appreciated... Running Windows 7 64 bit, Java 64 bit v7u11

Seems there is something with the connection either on your side or on the server side.

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=jHbPjwAN There is it on Paste bin.

I did have connection issues before, when we were running a FTB alpha mod pack server, where everything would load incredibly slowly when i spawn or explored unloaded areas and i would have very bad lag problems, however the connection bar showed that it was fine, full green bars.

I noticed that the issues started happening when we were sent a new Router from Talk Talk (Which i cannot replace as our living room TV now streams through our internet, much to my dismay) Unfortunately i cannot open any ports for my connection, as when i open them in the router control panel it does not actually take effect. This was an issue with our previous router aswell, although i blamed it on the fact that it was a Belkin router and had terrible software.

This is really rather annoying me now :(

Talking about the network, do you have the ipadresses and or DNS adresses obtained by DHCP or manual?

If I understood correctly (correct me if I have misunderstood) I have set up my ip address and DNS myself to try and create a static ip in order to make forwarding work...but alas it has not.

yes and no depeding on the netwerk equipment.
But in your case lets keep it to yes.

We did that ipconfig before. Can you do that again and give me the IP-adres / subnetmask / Gateway and DNS-server you see there (for both systems)
so i can check if you set it up right. My feeling tells me there is something wrong with either the subnetmask / gateway or DNS

Ok, i think something must have gone wrong. Here is the ipconfig (Minus the Hamachi part):

Just looking at the fact it says "DHCP Enabled: No Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes" Which means i probably done it wrong, or the router is ignoring my settings... If someone could do a quick run through of how to set up DHCP then i can confirm whether i did it right...

Setting DHCP is rather easy, depeding on the windows version. Basicly it's going to the settings of your TCP/IP settings of the network connection and there enable DHCP instead of manual.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=howto enable DHCP

The manual setup looks good tbh. your client is having the
ipadres: 192.168.1.8
subnetmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1 = router

DNS are the DNS servers of TalkTalk, this is good although i normally prefer to use the gateway IP as DNS for the first DNSserver adress (and leave the second one blank)

You said - hamachi, this could explain the network problems. Been helping an other member last week where the connections where jumpy after installing hamachi, is that your case aswell?

Not sure how much you can configure in the router of TalkTalk, is UPNP enabled or not?

Ok, so i did set that up correctly? Sorry, i like to think i know what i'm talking about but sometimes i get a little confused. Do i want DHCP enabled if i'm trying to open ports on my PC specifically and therefore requiring a static Ip Address? (Which i read somewhere that i would need...)

Well actually no, i have had Hamachi installed and running since before the router swap and had no issues with it.

UPnP is enabled yes. I can change ALOT of options on my router, but as i said before, when i have, it seems to have had no effect...

Let me make it even harder for ya:p
You can have DCHP enabled IF you configure an DHCP reserveration in your router (if the router supports it), that way the DHCP from the router will always give the same ""fixed" IP adres to your PC.
Easiest way is just to manual enter the ipadresses if you want a ""fixed" IP, since all routers are different and writing a walkthrough for all routers is abit tomuch :p

But why do you want a fixed ipadress anyway, if your not running a server it aint needed, then DHCP with UPNP enabled in the router (requires a restart of the router after enabling) whould be enough.

IF the router doesn't have UPNP or it aint working, then you do need to set a fixed IPadress and manual open all ports for the games your playing. (wich is a pain in the ***)

PS i don't know if TalkTalk has IP v6 enabled, if not you might wanna switch this off in the settings of the network connection

I did used to run a server, but me and my clients used hamachi so i guess it wasn't needed.
If UPNP wasn't working on the router, surely that would mean i wasn't being connected to the internet properly and therefore unable to access it at all?

I don't believe it does, but there is nothing in the router settings which tells me so i have disabled it for now. Didn't make a difference to my connectivity.

I should probably say that it is when i initially launch the server and whenever i move more than 10 blocks in any direction that i experience the lag. If i stay in the same place for an extended period of time then it is actually fine, people and monsters register the positions and actions correctly. I know this is not a performance issue as i have no trouble in single player...

Gah, curse you Talk Talk.

UPNP just opens ports for games and programs when they request it, and closes them afterwards.

Hmm, ok. So obviously UPNP isn't working, but neither is manually opening ports (As i set them up and used a port checker, said they were closed)

Could it just be my ISP?

UPNP only opens the ports when required, although after enabling it the router needs to be rebooted before it wil become active.
IF UPNP is enabled and you open the ports manual the router should ignore the UPNP setting for that port but still work for other ports.

You're having problems connecting to other games / IRC channels aswell?

Huh, Fair enough. It's amazing to find an active member with so much knowledge XD

Yes actually, i have constant lag when trying to play Magicka with friends. These are pretty much the only games i have problems with. Apart from the FTB server, i do not have problems with dedicated servers in other games (TF2, LoL, Dota 2, Killing Floor etc) And i do not have a problem when connecting to my friend to play co-op saints row 3... I know i've had issues with my connection on the Xbox 360 forever (Strict NAT all the time, which first came about when we first installed our belkin router about 3 years ago) but i put that down to the router... Gah this is rather annoying.

Also, since we've installed this new router i've noticed that my bandwidth is terrible. Before, steam could download games at 700kb/s (My regular maximum) and i could surf the internet with no problems. Now, it's horrible. It might have to do with the fact that we received a Youview tv box with the new router, which streams to the TV via the router... Although the problems still persist even when the box is off.

I feel as if this is only effecting me...what did i do in the past life to deserve this?

Sorry for the late response, rather busy with tickets in the supportsystem the last days >.< Damn i need more time in a day if i want to help everyone ^^.

The lag your describing can be 2 things, either to up / download is to low due to your IP-TV(ISP's tend to resevate some bandwith from you for it), or indeed the faulty UPNP function.
What i did with my old ISP is through out the old router of my ISP (was cable so np), buy a TP-Link 1043 router and everything worked flawless after setting the router up. Even nog with my 100/100mbit fiber connection still no problems.

I think it might even be both problems...It is only Talk-Talk and the maximum download rate i would get from Steam would be around 700kb/s. Now i barely get 320.
See, the set up we have at the moment is a bit confusing. We have the T-T Router and 2...Gateway routers is the best way i can describe them, until internet is received at my PC. Now, we haven't had trouble with this setup in the past (Beyond the port issues) But i can't remove the T-T router because it's not up to me, as it's my father paying the bills (Even though i offered to pay the whole, more expensive bill to get better internet ¬_¬) So is there a way around this or am i just going to have to put up with it?
