Mindcrack nameplates = a griefer's best friend

I really like the the new update, you guys have really done great but the nameplates added by voxel are a huge claw-mark on the pack in my opinion. I've heard complaints from many players of multiple PVE survival servers about the fact that they couldnt have a hidden/protected base anymore starting out because of the distance the names are able to be seen from therefore causing mass griefing to occur. I'm not sure if there is a setting for it i haven't looked but i'm just relaying what people have told me. If the nameplates stay there should be some kind of protection implemented with the pack but other than that the pack is great

Well, seeing as the pack was made exclusively for the Mindcrack server, I don't think they are going to have an issue with griefers.

Yes, they made the pack public, but it wasn't made for public use.

Best thing to do is to either figure out which mod does it and remove it.

Unless the ForgeEssentials thing is done already, I think that there are more griefing tools in other mods (quarry, mining laser) than being able to see where players are...

The point was since there is no protection plugin for it yet, someone can see your nameplate from 200m away and know exactly where your house is and break into it instead of the old nameplates where you had to be within a close distance. There is no hiding from people even if you're all the way down at bedrock. So far i have been playing the mindcrack modpack for 3 days now and have been griefed 7 times just because i can't kill them and they break through the mountain im in until they get to me and take my stuff. It would be nice for a PVP server but for PVE it is useless/burden untiil there is a protection plugin

Don't the settings in F9 let you hide your name?

If you're playing on a PVE server, they shouldn't be griefing and killing you then. Tell a mod and get them to stop. Unless you're on a weird server that is PVE unless you want to grief.

Voxel player is the voxel mod causing the name plates and such, iirc. Just remove that from the server and you won't have to worry about it.

Hmm, not much you can do about it then. Find a nicer PVE server that doesn't allow PVP and griefing.

Edit: Although, I'm certain somehow you could get it disabled. But I think the mod author would have to add something into it for SMP like Rei's Minimap and the entity map.
