Wow that is a rather meaty computer you are running.

I skim read that previous thread, so sorry if it's already been asked. Are your graphics drivers up to date? Does the same happen with or without Optifine? Is this in Singleplayer or Multiplayer?

Seeing as you have a daycent CPU, I would say your lag spikes are coming from the auto-save mechanic in MC itself.

If you could you should install optifine and set the auto-save to 30 mins.

Hehe, gaming is a passion of mine and for that reason, hardware has to be good.
Graphics are still 12.6 as it is the most stable. This driver has no issues with anything else.
(Hard to update as I can switch between Intel integrated and the dedicated, and can't be installed the normal way)
It happens with or without Optifine, although OF increases the time before the first spike hits, but after that, it is about the same frequency as without.
It is both SSP and SMP in both packs.

SynysterBear:
As this also happens in SMP, so saving shouldn't be the issue.
