I was surprised that I didn't see anyone talking about the new Mindcrack 1.6 pack (currently a private pack, but will be publicly released according to Etho's video). Anyone find a mod list anywhere?

Mindcrack kinda split up a bit.
GennyB and Bdubs and a few others went into the dark paths of tekkit...they have betrayed us.

Genny also said on reddit that he will be doing FTB also, but with a new "twist" that he would reveal later.

I played the old Mindcrack Pack a lot and enjoyed it. Right now I'm playing a custom pack that I put together for 1.6.4 that I attempted to make as sort of a spiritual successor to that original pack.

I can't say that I'm interested at all in their new official pack. It just seems like a completely random mishmash of unrelated and unbalanced mods.

I watched Guude's first video featuring it and I know he said that the goal is PvP, which honestly doesn't interest me either. I usually don't watch any of their UHC tournaments.

What I enjoyed about the original pack was that there was progression, and I enjoyed watching individual Mindcrack members solve problems in different ways and take different progression paths.

What I don't understand, is what is the big difference between the new MindCrack pack and the B-Team pack.

There is a slight variation in mods of course, but other than the title and description they seems to be about the same. Both packs feature a bit of magic, and a bit of tech. Both packs feature modern weapons. Both packs are balanced to not be a "progressing through the tech tree" game such as the old Mindrack pack.

( I don't know the modlist of the MindCrack pack yet, but from what I've seen the B-team pack has Galacticraft and some mods that enable you to have "minions," and the MindCrack pack has Twilight Forrest and rogue-like dungeons.)

The B-Team's vids of FTB 1.4.2 are what convinced me to try modded Minecraft. After a while though I came to loathe the Mindcrack pack, as did most of their crew. This new pack seems focused more or combat and adventure. The Attack of the B-Team is designed around fun and aesthetic mods with concern about balance; their pack is perfect for iChun mods and I don't mean that negatively.

Faction/PVP servers seem best for the new mindcrack pack. I don't really see much appeal for SSP play. From a viewer perspective I can't watch their mod vids at all, I know more than them at this point. I still pop in occasionally to watch their vanilla stuff. I do appreciate that they're going for a pack that decreases their time staring at a crafting table. That was the most annoying thing about their original pack from a player and lp viewer perspective.

I'm glad this modpack seems to focus more on exploration. I'm not a fan of technical stuff, and it always seems like people assume the alternative is supposed to be magic. But the real alternative is adventure! Yet as much as I enjoyed Hexxit, I'm just not a fan of its overly generous ore distribution. Just because I like to explore doesn't mean I want to ignore caving entirely, you know?

It's also nice to see a modpack that gives some love to SMP. I'm mainly a single player guy, sure, but considering how often I play SMP in vanilla it struck me as unusual that I never have any interest in going on a modded server. A pack that isn't filled entirely single-player-centric mods could probably change that

Well, the B-team are currently stepping into a tekkit series, and I doubt they'll be able to do two modded series at once.
Clear things up for you? :)
It's not tekkit, the pack is actually unbalanced, OP, and building focused. Anyway, it's easy to play several different packs. I'm playing two, AND compiling my own.

Sorry, meant technic platform, they're actually running their own custom "B-Team" modpack!

Despite their on-screen personas, they're very well organized and both of them already juggle several minecraft series at once. This will not be a problem for them. Don't worry guys.

I'm having fun both watching and playing the "Attack of the B-Team" pack... especially BdoubleO100's reaction to the carpenter's blocks mod. Both Bdubs and GB have shown an ability to focus on multiple series at once, so I don't think they'll have issues with playing both packs. The fact that the Building with Bdubs series is pretty much done for now will help, I'm sure.

The "Crack the Beast" pack is one I probably won't play, but I will definitely enjoy watching. I've caught the first episodes from several of them so far. Etho and Zisteau dungeon crawling was great, and AnderZel with Docm seems like a good partnership.
