Okay, overused memes aside, I've recently started playing the Tech World 2 pack on a private server, and I built a good portion of my base out of Quarried Stone from Railcraft. I was dismayed when I found that quarried stone is not microblockable, and started considering my options.

Here are my questions:
  1. If the FTB packs all use the same configs, why is Quarried Stone microblockable in DW20, but not TW2?
  2. If I add quarried stone to the config server-side, without it client-side, will there be issues?
  3. Why haven't you guys made (virtually) every block microblockable?
I do realize that if you configure a block ID to be microblockable, but that ID doesn't exist, it will crash (i.e. configure block ID 1337 to be microblockable, but there is no block in block ID 1337) but it seems a bit odd to not track blocks and make sure every single aesthetic block is microblockable. Sure, this is a lot of work, but I think its worthwhile.

  1. Because Dire made the DW20 pack, and Jaded [I think] made TW2.
  2. Yes- your client will crash as it wont reconise the block/item.
  3. Because it junks up the NEI menu- no one wants to scroll through a bunch of sliced up MFR machines. (Seriously- theres pages of them [microblocks], that no-one ever uses.)
  4. Also- forge handles crafting recipes sub-optimally; if you have a tonne of recipes then loading the game takes ages. It also seems to slow down NEI.
Though you do raise a fair point about the quarried stone.

Common misconceptions. Jaded makes the configs and maintains the dw20 pack but dire chooses the mods. Nei doesn't load the recipes for microblocks so lag from loading recipes isn't an issue.

This is why there are global configs, but they're not used in all packs. I'm assuming DW pack is 1 where they are used.
