this is what my harvester leaves. which is exactly the opposite of what i want. i want it to cut the wood down. not cut the leaves down, and by the time it has finished that tree's leaves another tree has grown and by then it needs to cut those leaves down.
i cant feed the harvester 500rf/t, but atleast i feed it 50rf/t.
why does it focus on leaves, and how can i make it the harvester useful again?
ive got a void pipe for the sludge.

i run infinity evolved version 2.2.2

I have noticed that while the Harvester works on trees, it goes thru this strange pathing algorithm where it does indeed seem to focus on the leaves first, and only when every leaf block is gone, only then will it begin to collect the actual wood blocks.

So I think you've already seen what must be happening, since you are unable to provide the machine with full power - it's running so slow that it can't even keep up with the leaf blocks, and therefore it never gets to the wood blocks. Perhaps there needs to be a minimum power level before the machine will even begin to collect the wood blocks. Solution, IMO: You have to generate more power. It's a common problem in Infinity Evolved, not having enough power. Keep pluggin away tho and you'll get there. 300 hours into the modpack, I finally have all the power I need, pretty much... but that's a lot of playtime to get there!

I have noticed the exact same thing. I haven't been able to get to a MFR Planter/Harvester in Evolved yet however in prior versions with emerald level +11 radius upgrades I would find that the harvester tore down leaves of all "connected" trees before moving to the wood itself, even with maximum power supplied to the harvester. Often It would harvest nothing but leaves during the day then catch up at night leaving a patch of nothing but saplings sometime prior to dawn.

I would suggest if you can't provide enough power that the wood is 100% harvested by dawn, then consider using smaller radius upgrades, until you can provide more power to the harvester.

or space the trees out by replacing some dirt with something that they won't plant on although you will get more leaves per tree that way

If you've gone down the Botania tree, you could supplement your Harvester with a Munchdew. This would clean up your leaf problem while generating mana. This may lead to low sapling drops over the long term, but it will give you the jumpstart you need until you can generate more power.

Is it outputting saplings quickly enough? If not, switch to an extracting pipe, instead of something passive.

already done the botania tree in another playthrough and i found it to be quite boring so trying another path this time

i have item conduits from ender io so i dont think its passive. but yeah its outputting them quite quickly

Check the the redstone state in the actual conduit. I believe it's set to accept, but not actively draw by default.

It focuses on leaves possibly for performance reasons. If it went for lumber first all the saplings would start falling and lag you out in large scale setups.

This is one thing Forestry has over MFR. It goes for the wood first and catches the saplings. However that's it's only advantage.

You may need to scale your farm down or get ANOTHER harvester. You can also try to restrict the trees growth by building a roof do big trees don't grow.

Thank you guys, this really helped a lot. My selfsustaining tree farm was not very productive, but problem was in this only. So I used a sickle at start, to take down leaves, made a roof to prevent big trees from spawning and when I got full power, farm started working great.
