In making several iron tanks, I think one should have a plentiful source if fuel, not for main power but incase I run out. Is hydrogen a viable option? What about methane? My goal is to have a way to use energy to make some as a backup.
What I meant was I need something that is renewable and be constantly producing it. Thanks for the info on hydrogen, I'll start my methane production plant.Forget about hydrogen, it has been nerved to oblivion is now only useful to get deuterium imho. Methane can still be viable since you get at least some surplus of energy out of it but not nearly as much as you used to. If you want backup fuel why not go with plain old fuel?
In MindCrack v8 methane contains 6000 fuelunits, hydrogen 4000 fuelunits. In later versions of GregTech this will be nerfed to 3000 methane/2000 hydrogen.
In a fully heated 36HP boiler 3000 fuelunits will net ~27.3k MJ. Not worth the hassle. Better burn that methane for 45k EU in a Gas Turbine.
