Metals in FTB SSP V3

This is probably incredibly noobish but I'm doing the FTB SSP V3 map with the retro SSP pack and I can't figure out how to get metals. I'm assuming that the first thing I need to do on this map is provide blulectric power to unlock everything else but I'm stuck at creating metals. Any help would be appreciated.

you need to have a bit of cobble stone and go down to the nether portal then you make a platform and pigman spawn and they drop golden ingots and you can convert gold to iron gold to diamonds with philosepher stone

Ah, thanks. I heard about pigmen in direwolfs video of the insanity map but didn't quite know what that was about.
