I'm attempting to have an ME Basic Import Bus extract ores from an Iron Chests diamond chest into an ME Interface above a hopper, which then drops items into a TE Pulverizer. No problems with extracting the finished products. Only issue with extracting from chest inventory.

Have tried:
1. Attaching ME Controller to cable between chest and first Interface
2. Replacing diamond chest with ME chest (64k storage)
3. Attaching a Basic Export Bus to the Interface (pointy end going to Interface)
4. Placing an ME chest (64k storage) in between the interface and diamond chest to serve as an intermediate inventory

Please help soon.

@PenPhantom
It's a bit difficult to see, but is the interface actually connected to the ME network - other than the cable going to the chest?

No, because then ores would just go back into my main system without being processed.
To make that setup work, you need a controller and some storage (either an ME drive or an ME chest with a storage cell) connected to the ME cable between the interface and the chest, and powered of course.

Export / import buses doesn't work without an ME controller (I believe this is changed in AE2 for 1.7.2). An ME controller cannot store any items by itself, meaning without any storage the import / export still won't work.

You could also connect everything together, import the ores and store them in your main ME, then set the export bus to the hopper and export your ores into it for the pulverizer. Then you only use your main ME as a buffer for the ores.

Set the Priority on the Interface(wrench icon on the right of the ME GUI) to higher than anything in your main network and it'll go there first, AE priorities and sorting are incredibly powerful.

Then connect up those cables coming from the chest and away you go...

EDIT: actually you don't even need to set priority the system will always fill an ME interface if it can...

If you want a separate network, to avoid getting ores stuck in your main system, you can build a small subsystem.
first you have to put an ME controller on it and an ME power relay, then attach a cable from the main system to your power relay.

Now your subsystem doesnt have anywhere to store the items it wants to imort, if you put a storage bus on your machine (instead of the interface) your network will 'store' the ores in there.
this way your ores will not get into your main system and you do not have to separatly power the second ME controller

Think you need to have a look a bit closer on how ME works. Items does not travel through the cables. They are digitized and instantly becomes part of the network when entering in one place. This is the strength of AE. Items are instantly "everywhere" and can be used in the other end of your base, or even your far distant base straight away.

The simple way of doing this is just importing all the ores into your ME network. Then use a ME Export Bus on the Hoppers or the machines directly to insert the ores into the machines.

You will only really want to use ME interfaces with machines like that for crafting jobs. It is true that you can hook them up like that and set them to "Export" certain items, but they will not push the items out. The hopper used in this case will pull them out in this case, but still not recommended as your ME system will constantly be trying to look for a crafting recipe for the ores when there are none in the system to be send to the ME interfaces. Always use ME Export Bus to send items out of the network unless it is part of a crafting job.
