Hey eveyone. I've been playing different FTB packs for a while now but I've never seen this before. I'm playing on the brierie Techworld 2 (1.1.6) server, and since a few days ago the ME crafting has been extremely slow for everyone here. It worked fine before that, just suddenly decided to stop working properly.

It does technically craft, but when I test it with a redstone torch, having redstone and sticks ready in the system, it literally takes a few minutes to craft it. It'll show the item in the crafting monitor and nothing in the "currently crafting" window or the "missing mats" window. Has anyone encountered this before?

Not that I've noticed. Some times there's some pretty bad chat and/or block lag but everything else seems to be working fine. I can't think of anything relevant to your question anyway.
Other issues I've noticed is that itemducts don't seem to like chunk boundaries and redstone energy conduits have been a bit glitchy, sometimes not supplying power even though they're connected.

Those two with TE are pretty standard in my experience (just MC being MC). Is the TPS low on the server? The chat / block lag, from what I've seen, tends to indicate a lower than normal TPS.

So we are not speaking of the bug where the ME network suddenly seizes up and wont craft anything unless you break and replace a part of the network? It is just extremely slow and happens for several people running multiple separate networks?

Padfoote: Yeah, some people have theorized that that could be the issue. Do you know anything in the TW2 pack which could cause this to a greater degree than other things? I'm basically looking for things us players could do to prevent this, as I'm not an admin. I am pretty reliant on the ME crafting, if it doesn't get fixed soon I think I'll go to a different server at least for a while.
I've been trying to get in touch with the site admins about it, but Brierie runs a lot of different servers and they're very busy with some of the others at the moment, so they're hard to get a hold of. Haven't really gotten any sort of response about it over several days.

rhn: I've broken and replaced my ME controller at least once every day since the problem started, so I doubt that's the problem.

This bug can arise many times per hour in larger networks, so replacing your controller once per day will do absolutely nothing.
I have personally installed a Dark Cable with a Timer set to 10 mins so that the network will get "reset" periodically.

This will in newer version of AE not cause crafting queues to be cancelled, so you dont need to worry about that.

By the way, there's another symptom too, which has been around for slightly longer than the crafting lockdown. Every now and then, pretty much since I set up a quantum bridge before last weekend, I've noticed that both my and other people's ME machines tend to sort of reboot at different intevals. The screens will basically change to a circle of squares, sort of like a loading sign with a circular animation. If it happens while I'm browsing the storage I'll usually have to exit it and open it back up to see the contents. This too is happening with other systems than mine.[DOUBLEPOST=1404848372][/DOUBLEPOST]

What I meant was that I generally try to craft a redstone torch (because I've basically chosen that item as my test dummy), when it doesn't get crafted I'll break and replace my controller and try again and it still wont work.

The only things I can think of are if someone is doing things wrong with ReactorCraft (running a turbine without properly getting rid of the steam blocks) and possibly IC2 in general. I say IC2 only because I've seen several reports of it causing some sort of server issues, and not because I've personally experienced it.

You can't do much about IC2. ReactorCraft, on the other hand, all of you can make sure you properly use the turbines, which means either recycling the steam or destroying it.

I've never heard of this before. @rhn will be your best bet for help on this, as he seems to be the resident AE expert.

That sounds strange. The rebooting of the ME terminal could be explained by 2 things:
  • ME networks not properly chunkloaded and someone moving across these areas loading/unloading parts of the networks, which will cause a update of the network(just like adding a new cable etc. will do).
  • The ME controller(s) or quantum bridges not being properly powered and intermittently cutting out due to low power. I think the controllers loosing power would just cause the terminals to black out, but the quantum bridges would cause a update in the network as part of it is no longer available or suddently there again.
If you are sure none of these are to blame, then it might be some server problem, which is out of my field of expertise.

This isn't my network, I noticed it was doing that VERY often, like almost every minute. I don't think this guy has a Qbridge, though I'm not sure and he's not on so I can't ask.

I know that my networks should be properly chunk loaded. I have personal anchors on both sides of the quantum bridge and I'm pretty sure my networks are within the boundaries of those anchors. However my base does have the potential to use much more power than my power plant produces, so I guess the first thing I can do is to add some redstone cells on my controller and bridges etc. Just to be sure that's not it. I'll also do a checkup to see if anything is outside of the loaded bounds.

We don't have actively cooled reactors in the version we're playing, only the boring ones.

I think you're referring to Big Reactors rather than ReactorCraft.

You're right, sorry.

I added the redstone cells and removed a part of my ME network which was outside of my loaded chunks. Still can't craft a redstone torch.

Yeah that is the animation the terminals do whenever something updates the network. You can just try and stand next to a terminal and then add a simple ME cable and all the terminals in the network will do the animation in reaction to the network updating.

And breaking any part of the network and placing it back(just do a terminal or a cable) wont fix it?

Does this happen with a network that is only a controller, a handful of drives, and a monitor?

I've tried all kinds of resetting the network: disconnecting the controller by breaking a cable, breaking the controller, breaking a terminal etc, and nothing seems to be making a difference atm. I'm starting to think there's nothing to do besides wait for the admins to take a look at it.

I know it happens with my shop subnetwork (independently powered, not using a relay), that consists of a bunch of storage buses on chests, bunch of level emitters, bunch of interfaces, bunch of storage monitors and a controller. It's not directly connected to my qbridge and should be able to function perfectly whether that's on or off. Aside from the fact that it wont be able to restock.

I'm honestly out of ideas on this. I would say wait for an admin and hope they can find something.
