So i currently own a huge town on a server im playing on. Im going to attempt to make a maze just for fun with rewards at the end but there is a twist.

I want to make it interesting with FTB!! So using turrets for shooters and a zombie spanwer somewhere there. I want to use a lot of things as well as i will be using trackers to show the players movement.

I want to know what you guys can think of ? Any ideas on how to make this maze fun ? Maybe a high energy pellet launcher so those with only quick reflexes can pass.;)

For the tracking, put a ton of glass pressure plates or camouflaged pressure plates all over the ground, then output that redstone signal to a computer directly underneath (so long, lag-free world) that can output its information into a cable network which will connect to a master computer. The master computer can tell where a player is, and cause stuff to happen, like "if playerPosition = 26 31 (// X 26 and Z 31) output redstone signal with fancy computer code stuff; end" and have the redstone signal activate some high energy pellet launchers from the floor and also activate pistons so the player has to jump onto a platform that lines the wall before being distintegrated.

You could probably do it in a slightly easier way by just putting down pressure plates in certain areas and having them set up to traps so it's not a floor made out of 100% pressure plates.

You can make disappearing and reappearing blocks and walls using camouflaged things, as well as MFFS projectors with camouflage upgrades in them to disable or enable different walls depending on what the player does.

The things you can put in there as challenges, there are too many to list.
Soulshards
Turtles
Grates w/ dangerous fluids
Minecarts
MOAR TURTLES
Mobs
Pistons
High energy pellet launchers
Computercraft
Safari nets
Thaumcraft
One way glass so people can spectate and tease people in the maze
Time limits
Jumping puzzles
Quicksand
Cave spiders
Lava
Fire (RP2 igniters)
Blindness effects via command blocks
Polls on what to kill the person in the maze with
Artificial intelligence for the maze (randomly move around parts of the maze)
DANCING TURTLES
TNT
Rick rolls
Collectibles
Keys
PVP (Player versus Player)
PVE (Player versus Enemy)
Falling sand/gravel
Poison
EU through uninsulated cabling
Conveyor belts

There are far more than that, by the way.

Make it 3d to confuse people further. Use at least three levels. You can use areal faith plates for movement, twilight forest reapearing blocks for traps / timed parkour challenges, destroyer blocks to prevent people from placing blocks to overcome obstacles, builder blocks for more parkour. Gtech player sensors for detecting the players without being detected, liquid ender to confuse the players. Pistons and frames for transforming harmlessly looking rooms into a nightmare. T5 soul shard spawners are great for spamming mobs and can be turned off, MFR spawners are better (if requiring mob essence) as they allow you spawn very specific mobs. Even boss mobs. Or for example TC iron golems if you want to help the player.

Don't forget to make use of the command block for check points and other things. Also you can build safe rooms, with maybe even a trade system for health pots.

Oh yeah, the post above mine is great. TC adds keys and doors that require them, you could lock certain areas.

Oh yeah, speaking of TC, puzzles with golems would be nice.

One fun thing to do would be to make the maze somewhat dynamic so you have to go somewhere and solve a puzzle and then based on how you solve the puzzle red power frames activate and open up various paths to various other areas where maybe you could open up an easy medium or hard path based on how quickly someone solves your puzzles.

You might want to use a maze generating filter in MCedit to generate the maze, as it'll save you a lot of time. MCedit might corrupt your world, though, so you should backup before you use it.

That would have been a great idea if I weren't on a server :(1 question why would I using liquid ender XD ?? I'm not using pistons but rather redpower frames and MFFS !!

Is there anyway to turn the damage on the force field off ? As well as what do you guys think would be a good reward ?

Ill keep everyone updated with photo's XD

Liquid ender teleports you randomly a short distance. Pistons to hide it, but make it flow onto a player when he's below the trap.

MFFS only kills the players when you've got the security upgrade in it, doesn't it?

You can click the button on the force field to prevent damage. It should turn from a red line hitting a wall to a green line going through a wall.

Liquid ender causes people to teleport randomly, thus your maze will be bats*** insane.

A reward should be free MPS armor with diamond plating installed and maxed out.

Also, I'm sure the host of your server would be fine with you and other people setting up a maze like this. Since it's kind of cheating for 'everybody' and not 'just you', it should be fine. It depends on the type of host, though.

What a fun idea! I'd get totally lost in there from the sound of it. Hope you show us the finished article.

MFFS are a great idea to make walls that can appear and disappear at will (a button allows to turn the wall off for ~5 seconds, the player can run onto the other side and it turns on again). with camouflage it can be hidden...

or IC2 teleporter (yes, I like them): you can use them either in the classical way for 2 way teleportation or a one way teleporter (the receiver doesn't get power, so there is no way back), or multi point to point teleportation, like for example a bunch of teleporters inside the maze, and every teleporter sends the player back to the start.

these two methods can be combined: a floor made of a MFFS shield (appears as stone), and if the player walks over it, the mffs-floor turns off dropping the player onto a teleporter.

I would also if I were you build the maze so that when someone goes in and starts the maze they press a button and the whole maze gets surrounded by a force field from MFFS then use a security station (I believe it is a security station that does this not 100% sure) and set it so that it removes the players inventory. Then at the end of the maze in the finish room have it so the security station deposits their stuff into a chest.

Also have some form of give up system. I am thinking something like split the maze up into zones and at the start of each zone you can stand on an IC2 teleporter and get teleported to the end of the maze. (Obviously in the finish room but after the prize room.)

Asside from that I would say if you are able to build it in an eternal day void age that way IC2 power is no problem with solars and BC power for whatever could be handled by electric engines. And then just use a filler to build a platform and stick it on that.

You can use one-way camo to allow spectators to see into the maze without allowing the mazed characters to see out.

Also second the idea of making it 3d in a void age.

You can also have mini-puzzles that aren't necessary for completion, but that can grant you some bonus (an ender pearl, a window so you can see into the next room/if you're near the edge etc)

EDIT: If you want to make it REALLY hardcore, consider making adding another dimension - making it across two mystcraft dimensions that are similar but not identical (for example one might be just like the other but upside down). Just make sure to limit when they can switch dimensions (though I'm not sure how to do that).

Sadly im on Mindcrack so no ages :( As well as no MPS armor but ill leave some iriduim or maybe a nano saber (i think thats what is called ) !

I like the MFFS taking away their stuff and then they start fresh !m

Im thinking of a setup where they have checkpoints where they are given steak as health as to say!!

Can anyone show me a trap using liquid ender ? I cant think of a way to make it activate quickly[DOUBLEPOST=1370968675][/DOUBLEPOST]Im playing on a server so they wont be able to break blocks anyway so no worries about them tearing through the maze ! :D

Well, you can still use both the overworld and the nether if you want two different dimensions!

Could a deployer be used with liquid ender? Haven't really used it, so just guessing.

EDIT: Of course, you don't have to make the liquid ender into instant deathtrap; it could be like if you jumped wrong on a platform some other platforms are covered in it so it becomes harder to navigate.

even without ages: 2 mazes, more or less identical, interconnected with teleporters. and while the player thinks he ports between locations in one maze, he actually ports between 2 or more mazes. (okay, the coordinates of a map would reveal everything).

or what if there is just one maze, but the maze consists of a large array of 9x9 boxes (or 16x16 chunk-size boxes). all those boxes have 4 doors to their neighbors. and it's just a ton of force fields, that switch the configuration of the mazes.

in a 10 by 10 box array, you could set up even thousands of mazes, just by using computercraft

by the way, you need countermeasures for map-mods (like REIs or Voxelmap). with an active map, it is just plain easy (if there are no teleporters).

a very weird maze would be: a large bunch of boxes, no corridors. and the whole thing is just interconnected with teleporters and portal spawners and other things. this way it's really hard to find the way through it.
