Just started play FTB Infinity Evolved, my question is this, will the modpack eventually be updated to the most current version of minecraft or will i forever be stuck in 1.7.10? Im very new to modded and pc minecraft and i dont want to start an epic world if im going to miss out on future functions of minecraft like end dimensions and combat system and things of that nature.

Unfortunately, worlds will break 99% of the time in between major Minecraft versions. On top of that, quite a few mods in infinity may never be updated.

So while infinity will never move to 1.10.2 and be compatible, FTB (I imagine) will be releasing similar packs for 1.10.2 in the future.

Ah well that sucks, kinda brings me down with everything ive been doing so far. What about unstable? i know that has problems but if you start ftb unstable will you keep the world and just weather the updates?

The mods will likely be different once ftb starts to release 1.10.2 packs, however the chances of your world surviving the update would be improved significantly.

SO i could technically start a world in unstable and when it updates switch my world and just try and fix what breaks or is the possibility for corruption is what i should be worried about?

Yes. You could also use MCEdit to transfer your buildings over to the new world if it isn't possible to upgrade, although I've never done it personally so I wouldn't be able to help you there.

Corruption isn't particularly likely, more the missing mods and the lack of new worldgen for new mods.

I hate to say it but unless MCEdit changed how it stores templates copying buildings over with it that contain modded blocks isn't simple. This is because the templates store the blocks still using numeric id's which we all know doesn't have to be the same in between worlds, let alone mod packs.

you may be able to use recurrent complex, I haven't tried it across versions but it's possible

FTB Unstable is .want more to be a testbed for mods coming into the scene. It is not intended for long term world stability. Any and all builds in said pack should be viewed as temporary at best. You shouldn't plan on building anything you might get attached to, as it may be rendered corrupt or otherwise unplayable at any given stage.

My best advice is to be patient. Go ahead and fiddle with Unstable - the more bugs squashed there, the less you have to deal with in your future packs. But be patient. Packs are being developed, tested, and polished now. Mods are being updated, rewritten, and developed from scratch. Again, be patient.
