Hello community!
My friend and me are really lacking tin on my server. I tried researching about that and found out that ore-gen is restricted by some config files, but nobody ever said which config files you have to edit in order to let all ores spawn on a multiplayer server.
Can anybody please explain what you have to change in the config files in order to archive this? And is there any way to let the additional ores spawn in an existing world? I know that there used to be a tool to do this when Minecraft used to still be in beta.

Sincerly,
Darkness4910

In the original config settings, forestry is the only mod allowed to spawn tin and copper, if you want more tin, enable IC2 ores to spawn as well.

<path to server>\config\IC2.cfg
change in the following line (section "general") the false to true:
enableWorldGenOreTin=false

This will spawn more tin in newly explored chunks only

I think IC2 tin and copper are far more plentiful, you might wnat to disable the forestry ones unless you want to swim in copper blocks until you get copper poisoning and accelerated hair loss

This.

And I'm not sure that a "lack of" something can be massive. ;)

I tried this in the MindCrack pack and my game keeps crashing, does anyone know why?

erm, I'm pretty sure that's not the case. IC2 ores look very different.

AFAIK, the current ores (at least in Mindcrack pack) are from Thermal expansion. Slowpoke explained how it allows specific setting of how rare some ores are via thermal expansion config.

In the original config settings, forestry is the only mod allowed to spawn tin and copper, if you want more tin, enable IC2 ores to spawn as well.

First, it's actually ThermalExpansion spawning tin/copper/lead/silver

Second, don't do that. That will give you two ores that don't stack. Instead, go into the TE config and up the spawnrates.

minecraft/config/cofh/thermalexpansion.cfg

and down at the bottom increase either the numclusters or clustersize config option. (or both)

Note that this will not change the levels they spawn at, which is restricted as well.

Third, you can't turn on IC2 ANYWAYS, as there is a conflict (with I think TE blockids) you can turn on redpower copper/tin/silver if you want - but again, don't do that.

I just tried changing the IC2 tin and copper spawn to true in the config, before reading this thread. It did crash when I changed those to true. I really don't like the default settings for the rarity of copper and tin, but I am glad I can configure it.

If your having a hard time finding ores look here: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/ftb-mindcrack-pack-ore-heights.4702/

Copper will not spawn below y level 40 and higher then y 75 so you have to mine near the surface to get it. As for tin it is between Y 25 and Y 50 so it is semi near the surface above diamond level which is 0 to 16. In other words if your only mining at diamond level you will get little to no copper or tin. This way your forced to mine at least 2 to 3 different levels for best mining results or to build a quarry/ ic2 miner/mining turtle to do the mining for you.

Danidas is 100% correct. Before I started my world I installed single player commands and removed all stone dirt and gravel in 64 chunks just to see how the ore spawn rate would be so I could tweak it if need be
