Masking one machine as another (or a simple block)? Is it possible?

I've vaguely recall having watched a few spotlights where blocks can be painted as others. They're all specialized and only affect their specific subset though. If I want to make, say, a TE Redstone Furnace look like a standard furnace, is there a way to that?

I think he's talking about the painter from Ender IO, and as far as I know, it only affects mundane blocks and their own mod
You can paint them as anything, but not everything can be painted (from What I know of it)

EDIT: Thermal expansion doesn't have that functionality, and I"m not sure another mod will do the effect you're after on Thermal expansion machines
