Map help?

I made a map and expanded it with paper to the largest size. I then explored the world until I filled the map out.
A week later I went to check my map to see where a desert was in the east of my base, but it was blank and unresponsive. Is there a fix or a way to prevent this happening?

Honestly no Dragonfel. I never even use maps since Rei's is pretty much standard for me nowadays .

Can rei's be expanded out to as far as a vanilla map? I like to see what's around in my base within a couple thousand blocks.

If you're fine with using a mod, try JourneyMap (MCF link).

I haven't messed around with the options with Rei's too much. I typically just use the standard zoom feature (default X in mindcrack) but I dont believe that goes out to 2km.

Yes.

Ask your server admin though, some don't like people using client-side mods like this.
