Is there any way to grow this in the overworld? If so, how? I've looked everywhere for an answer, wondering if anyone here has experience with it.

As far as I know, you can't grow them. Or at least anyway I have found. Think they only grow over water, which is tricky to place a sapling on a water block or on an air space above. ;) This might have changed in more recent versions, but that was the state of things in the recent past. I hope someone can say otherwise, would like to be wrong on this.

I looked about a month ago and couldn't find any info. I'd like to know myself.

And also why tigerwood trees barely drop saplings. That's so frustrating

I figured this would be the case, seeing that putting a sapling on water defies physics. :p

i grew some on a block next to a water source if that helps, im playing on FTB Unhinged

Ah, that is my dilemma, I'm still in FTB Ultimate.

Welp, seems as though I won't be able to, I'll keep a sapling by my river with fingers crossed anyways. Thanks for the replies everybody!

Copy & pasted so you don't have to open the link

Mangrove saplings can only be grown on sand in older versions. When a sapling grows, it produces a "root structure" made of mangrove wood which extends several blocks into the ground and will destroy any block, including bedrock, in its path. In newer versions, you use bonemeal in the centre of a 3x3 patch of Mangrove saplings, but you may want to put the saplings one or two blocks lower if you want a shorter tree.

Do not plant mangroves near anything you do not want to lose. It won't destroy the contents of a chest, but it will break the chest and the items may despawn on the ground.

So out of curiosity why would you reply to a thread that is over 4 years old? Most of the people in this thread have stopped being active on the FTB forums years ago.
