Making an amber wand and staff core?

I am wondering how you make an Amber wand and amber staff core, i am using the 1.7.10 pack on Technic launcher and it does seem to be in the NEI subset but no recipe is found on the Thaumonomicon, so is there something i am missing to is there no in game recipe but still be made?

have you unlocked everything? i would recommend looking in the cheat version of the Thaumonomicon to see if its there. If it isn't it likely can't be crafted.
