Enderthermic Pump from extra utilities in the nether + a tesseract next to it. It chunkloads itselfs, gets power from the tesseract and sends the lava trough it. Then another tesseract in the overworld where you put in some RF and take out the lava.

Or have the enderthermic pump output into a magmatic dynamo in the nether and power the pump off of that

If you're on 1.5.2, yes. On 1.6.4, it's just a tesseract configured to send liquids.

Edit: Ninja'd

Or you can use Magma Crucible. Netherrack input, lava output. %66 of lava you produce goes to Magmatic Engine which is powering the Magma Crucible. You can store the rest. And as Magma Crucible has 3 by 9 inventory, 28 stacks of Netherrack should last a bit. If you want to automate gathering Netherrack, you can set up a Quarry in Nether, store Netherrack in Ender Chest and pump it out on Overworld.

Edit(31.1.14): You'll need 30 Redstone Engines to run Quarry continuously. You can extract Netherracks with wooden pipe without using an engine to power the pipe. But you'll need an at least one Redstone engine to power the wooden pipe to extract Netherracks from the Ender Chest. Therefore to setup up this system you need:
-A Quarry, 31 Redstone Engines, 2 Ender Chests, 2 Wooden Pipes, a Magma Crucible, a Magmatic Engine, 31 Wooden Conductive Pipes, 60 Stone Conductive Pipes. Storing lava is up to you.

I can make a setup for you if you want.

or you can use lava fabricator from MFR eiher way there are ways...
lava fabricator requires as much or more power to create a bucket of lava than one bucket can provide unfortunately although I guess it could be used to convert EU into RF. You might be able to get more out of an oil fabricator by processing it into fuel, but again probably not.

but in the end probably once I have an infrastructure going I would purely be relying on steam and LHBs for my power... its self sufficient that way

Fuel was actually very power possitive in 1.5. To the point where youd put in 1eu(or mj) in a oil generator to get 2 eu(or mj) worth of power in return. The math behind it is around this forum somewhere ;) Then 1.6 came around and liquid boilers got nerfed hard...

Easiest is just BC Pump w/ Chunkloader loading it, Four Redstone Engines powering it, Ender Tank right next to Pump taking in lava. Make the Ender Tank's pair for your base.
