Hello guys,

I have a question regarding magmatic engines. I am using one to power my quarry. I use a liquid tessaract to transfer lava from the nether to the engine through a liquiduct. The engine is attached to the quarry directly. Initially i had thought that magmatic engines do not overheat but something happened on my last dig. When i came to check on the dig the quarry, engine, pipe and tessaract plus the chunk loader(which was a little bit farther away) were destroyed. This is my forth or fifth dig and this has never happened. I checked on wiki and it said that it can overheat but it will just shut down and i would have to repair it with a wrench. Also i don't think this was the work of any crepper since it happened in the twilight forest and creepers should only attack players as far as i know(and other things that attack them). Wiki also says that i should use redstone energy conduits that will not let the engine overheat and i tried it out in creative mode but i don't see any difference in the energy output. Should i power the engine through an energy conduit or power the quarry through an energy conduit linked to the engine? Thanks in advance for your response.

even if it was a pipe explosion(why do you need a pipe to begin with, if you only use 1 engine?) it wouldn't take anything with it. the only pipe-related explanation i have is that when pipe exploded it startled a creeper and it did the rest.

I'm at a loss. It's either a bug or another player. AFAIK, neither the Magmatic Engine nor the Quarry have exploding mechanics. BC pipes, however....

But, you weren't using any BC pipes, right ?

i am using a liquiduct for powering the engine and a cobblestone pipe for transporting items to the chests(also diamond pipe to filter out cobblestone from the rest)

The cobble pipe probably exploded. If any BC pipe has more than 100 items in it, it will explode.

ok but i have used these on different sites before and they didn't explode but this one didn't even get past the dirt sections , it went about 2 levels down.

Perhaps a server hiccup, ex. someone flying around the Nether while a backup is in progress, for example, prevented the server from keeping up with the 20 TPS pace and when the server caught the quarry up, it bursted a lot of stuff into the pipe.

Just a theory/guess.

I've never ever ever ever seen a transport pipe explode; if their output gets full they always just spew.

yep. Nothing here would explode. There are a thousand ways to gank other people's stuff no matter your or server's grief protections.

Then you haven't shoved 100 items into a single pipe. It's in the config. If you want to see it set it to 1 and go test it out.

a quarry doesn't load anymore than 1 item at a time. A magmatic engine doesn't push a quarry very fast. so you aren't getting 100 items on the way to the chest. If there is no destination, it doesn't not blow. Items fly out of the pipe onto the ground. Regardless of whatever config your talking about.

As Miguk stated server hiccups could cause it to push that many items in at once. The issue also isn't that 1 item is going in at a time it's that 100 items could have been in the pipe at the same time. It also has nothing to do with destination at all. If ever there are 100 items or more in a single pipe. It. Will. Explode.

There was a small crater where the items were so i don't think it was another player unless they made that crater to make it look like a explosion(in which case "clever girl" :)). Anyway what transport piping for items do you guys recommend i use so that it doesn't explode?

that would be a 1-2 minute hiccup. because at around 4-5 mj your getting a block per second or something. I mean I guess that point is valid, and I don't know how poor his server is, but someone taking stuff is still more likely to me.[DOUBLEPOST=1382380530][/DOUBLEPOST]

gold, or item tess. tess's are instantaneous, and gold is more robust and quicker.

Quarry, chunkloader, and Twilight Forest. Sounds like a chunk reset to me.

Even if it wasn't a chunk reset I'd recommended placing your quarries such that their internal chunkloading also covers anything else you have attached to them.

Fine fine.

Have you pressed F9 to look at the chunk boundaries? The quarry might be keeping 25 chunks loaded but the pipe could have crossed a chunk boundary into an unloaded chunk.
