Magical Crops - Can't grow

So I am currently playing FTB Monster and I am trying to set up a Magical Crops farm so I can get Magma Cream to then make jet fuel. However I just cannot seem to get the Magical Crops to grow.

I am currently trying to grow Magma and Slime seeds, there are multiple issues occurring;

1. Seeds cannot be planted next to each other, otherwise the first plant pops out again

2. They just do not want to grow, I have supplied water to them... added a lillypad of fertility... nothing seems to work??

Has anyone got any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?

The fact that they are popping out says to me that something about the planting area is wrong. The reason the 1st seed pops is due to the block update of placing the second. Light level maybe?

Thanks! It ended up being the light levels :S

I had the Nightvision installed on my powersuit helmet and therefore didn't notice the light levels at all.
