Last week I posted a poll asking people is they would rather Magic mods or tech mods or both. I have already given my opinion of the response to the first poll in the other thread. Here I am asking those who have picked both how much magic or tech do you prefer.

Last time, I said my preference was tech mods, so it should be no surprise that if I play any modpack with magic in it, I prefer it to low magic, but high tech. A little bit of magic in the mods doesn't bother me, but I am just a tech geek.

Think of it this way.

All-encompassing ME network, reactorcraft fission reactor, ACME huge pile of extractors, all the basic resources automated by techy things.

Then,

Most of my blood magic backbone automated, thaumcraft thingies except the infustion altar automated and i'm just getting started trying to automate me some botania.

I tend to delve into magic mod toys early to get the standard bits I want, then once I get Colin running my tech for me I go back and branch out trying to get my magic mods into a similar state.

Blood magic things are easy to automate except for the demons, thaumcraft was absurdly fiddly until thaumic energistics, botania is the new challenge.

Steve carts for wood harvest(power via generators), ME network/Big reactors -> lots of quarries on mystcraft (to not ruin main world) -> Solar power.
Then magic modes :)

I agrees with High tech and low magic, because of this I opened up a server tuned for that. I don't spend time with magic as it doesn't seems fun to me to do all the "research" and etc.

I think you need to make it clearer that the real question is that "How much magic/tech do you prefer in mixed Magic/Tech modpacks?". You do mention it in your third sentence of your OP, but I would be afraid that many might have voted before that, and people purely voting from a "I only want tech/magic and not any magic/tech" will be skewing the results.

Also I don't really understand the difference between "Low Magic/Low Tech" and "High Magic/High Tech". Aren't both a 1:1 ratio? Is this some way of indicating small modpacks close to vanilla vs. large modpacks with lots of mods?

I prefer magic with tech sorta tangled into it, like I have enough tech to automate about everything but I have magic to give me a real reason to automate lots of things.

Don't know what that would classify as.

I like both, but for differing reasons. The balance of how much tech and magic is in a modpack, should really depend on the theme of the pack. Some packs make little sense to have magic in them, and vica versa. I can easily enjoy both high-tech, low-magic modpacks, and high-magic, low-tech ones. (Although I tend to prefer ones with a relative balance of them.) For this reason I don't (personally) see the sense of this poll, as it depends entirely on the modpack theme for me. (Hence I'm abstaining)

I don't much care about tech vs magic I tend to look for functions and "cool things" I can build\use. If a tech mod provides, sweet. If a magic mod provides, sweet. If both provide, even better, I have a choice :)

High tech and high magic. Here's why:

As a rule Technology is about equipment and machinery, magic is about you. Or rather, whoever you imagine your MC avatar to be. I like my games to include both at the highest possible level of development. No magic mod is quite as good at building facilities to process things as a tech mod is, so if I want high-level automated resource generation and processing there is no magic mod which will satisfy. Meanwhile, I imagine my games as stories of the development of a world - and a person, and my games would be less intense without the more personal touch added by Thaumcraft and Blood Magic. Also, the magic stuff is often more aesthetically pleasing. Thaumcraft may have the best distinctive visual style of any MC mod I've seen so far, it's truly a work of art. I also explicitly like the Warp mechanics added in TC 4.2 because it adds to that personal aspect.

So I'll likely never play a game without at least one of the global tech mods (those that offer a full-scale, comprehensive range of technology, namely RotaryCraft/ReactorCraft or Mekanism) and at least one of the equally comprehensive magic mods which add a personal aspect to your games (Thaumcraft or Blood Magic).
