just an idea here about any mod creator want to pick this up its my idea for a a ingot converter so i could put in a stack of say lead thats industrial craft or tinkers construct and you can choose what mod pack to convert it to such as i want to get thermal foundation ingots, this would be very conveniant for barrels not sure if theres anything for this thing already just an idea i had that would be nice to have since i have many different types of ingots and these barrels can only hold one type of the same ingot

Yeah the unifier is the best way to go. You can have your AE system export the wrong ingot type to it and then import the correct type back into your system so you never have to worry about it. Ive used modtweaker to eliminate the problem completely from my modpack though.

I've used CoFH Core to correct the problem in my pack. Other types of ore simply don't spawn.

There have been many ore dictionary converters. But all of them have had clunky UIs.

The barrels will do this for you. But you can also use the MFR unifier.
This has been my go-to solution as well.

It even unifies some liquids if memory serves; I used to convert biofuel to/from ethanol back in a 1.6.4 pack before various generators would reliably consume both versions.

It also doesn't need power.

The "Storage Drawers" mod also has a "unify" feature built-in, and it is very nice to have. Simply create a Storage Drawer and insert your preferred ingot type, for instance, Thermal Expansion (TE) Lead Ingot. Do not have a Storage Drawer with any other type of Lead Ingot. Now, every time ANY type of lead ingot comes into the Drawer Controller, the mod will automatically convert it and put it into the TE Storage Drawer. It works with other item as well, its not just limited to ingots (such as IC2 dusts and TE pulverized materials being equivalents).

If you don't want certain items to be "unified" - a good example being IC2 Rubber and MFR Rubber Bars, which each have their own uses - then just create a Storage Drawer for each item, and the mod will route those items into their respective Drawers without converting them.

For us "neat freaks", having the Unify feature built-in and requiring no work on the part of the player, it's an invaluable asset that makes Storage Drawers an almost 'must-have' mod for early game base organization.

I tried a million things, and the unifier proved to be best solution for me, as you can easily automate conversion when ingots come out of your processing plant.

Barrels kept giving me problems, refusing mats, and are just generally a pain in the arse since 1-ingot type = 1 barrel.

One unifier can deal with plenty.

Is that a change in one of the newer versions? Cause the version I got it simply unifies the items into the closest one to the controller.

More likely, my comment referred to an older version of the mod (if it has indeed changed). But it would have to be a recent change. I've been playing Infinity Evolved Expert Mode, and finally made the switch from Storage Drawers to Applied Energistics hard drives about a month ago. So all I can tell you is that it was working the way I described at that time. Perhaps it is a configuration setting type of thing?

A mod exists called Automatic Ore Dictionary Converter. You hold an item in your hand, type the command to add, then any item with that oreDict match will automatically convert when it hits your inventory. I've begun using this in the new personal pack I'm testing, and I find it simple and customizable. Not sure if you need OP access on a server, but its likely server sided.

Hmmm... sounds nice but I´m not sure if it works with Logistic Pipes. I have in my Ininify evolved expert world. A drawer with each TE ingot and no free drawers left. Now when I insert a other mod ingot then TE it will go down the default route.
How is this "converting function triggert? By inserting into the controller/drawer or can LP know already if there is a fitting space for it before?
How does LP get the info from the drawer of what items are stored behind him?

I always pump my items right into the Controller, and I let it do the sorting for me. I just set a Tesseract down touching one face of the Storage Drawers Controller, and all my Ender Quarry stuff would go right into my Drawers and get sorted, no matter how fast it was coming in.

I never used Logistics Pipes with my Drawers, but I think the correct way is to always interface the pipes with the Drawer Controller and let it do all the work since that's what it's programmed to do.

A lot of the players on our server used LP with the drawers - there were a few complaints about getting it all working properly, and one guy had a mysterious bug that we couldn't ever resolve (but we could work around it). Otherwise, everybody seems to enthusiastically recommend them in Expert Mode (since we don't have AE2 right away).

Hmmm... but that would mean I need a drawer for every singel item there is right? Cause were do the controller store items that he cant find a place for in the system?

Put a basic logistic pipe on the controller. And then put a basic logistic pipe set to default route on some chests or something. That way it will try to insert into the controller first. If there is no available Drawer for it, it will put it in the random chests.

Easiest sorting system ever.

OK, seems I dont know nothing about LP then :)
I setup a mk2 Chasis on the controler with 1 item sink module and 1 provider one.
THen the reuqest table somewere else in the system and for the other items just mk2 chasis with itemsink modules and 1 provider + default route.
Overcomplexing it then I assume.

No that is absolutely fine. Itemsink card does the same as the basic pipe. So since you want to remotely order/access the items your route is perfect ;)
Alternative would be to have a Provider pipe on the Controller/chests as well.
